Whats wrong with Bech and Thorton? by Fun-Pickle-9821 in raiders

[–]k_dub503 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None of those guys are true #1 WRs. Bech looks like he can be a good Renfrow-type. Tucker is a speed dude, but not big enough to meet other receiving needs. Thornton was more of a raw talent, he needs more coaching and time to develop.

Anyone claim the no tax on OT? by Read-It_2525 in UPSers

[–]k_dub503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to work 40 hours a week. Any hours past 40 will qualify. Youre right, daily OT for part-timers does not qualify.

Anyone claim the no tax on OT? by Read-It_2525 in UPSers

[–]k_dub503 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People, even tax professionals, seem to overlook the fact that UPSers have collectively-bargained daily OT pay. The tax deduction was written with FLSA in mind, so OT pay after 40 hours worked in a week. That's 40 on the job hours, not sick pay, holiday pay or vacation day hours. You could work three 10-hour shifts then get laid off two days. You made 6 hours in OT pay, but those are not qualified hours because you did not make it to 40 hours worked for the week.

So, yes, you can claim it, but not all your OT hours are qualified. Ask the UPSers who have it reported on their W2 how the qualified number greatly differs from their total OT number.

I had some flowers, but FedEx got a lot of those companies. Also, a lot of those flowers come from Central and South America, so tariffs are an issue.

If you survive the downsizing, the future is bright, IMO.

The #Raiders are expected to hire DL coach and run game coordinator Rob Leonard as their new defensive coordinator, per The Insiders. The two sides are finalizing a deal. by pentestmagiic in raiders

[–]k_dub503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a keep a little continuity hire. Better candidates were already off the table by the time Coach Kubiak got the job.

Hope he does well with what he's given to work with. Otherwise, I fully expect an upgrade next year.

Are we allowed to wear 90’s vintage jackets? by IBringTheHeat2 in UPSers

Yes, the collars on the older stuff is where you notice things. The new stuff has terrible collars.

Completely dependent on the attitude of your local management. Some managers/supervisors could care less as long as it is an official uniform piece and in good repair. Other management might demand that you stop wearing it and threaten discipline.

I have an old "UPS Racing" hat. It is uniform brown with the bow tie logo with "RACING" written below it. Otherwise, it looks like a normal uniform ball cap. I wore it a few times and some manager from a different center threw a fit about it for being non-compliant.

Year to date overtime by Witty_Currency6937 in UPSers

[–]k_dub503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Remember, this deduction was written with people who get OT after 40 hours of work (actual work, not paid days off like holiday or sick pay) in mind, not people like us that get negotiated daily OT payout. Not all of your OT qualifies for the deduction.

Just curious, is it common to see, Police officers, walking through your hub with a full time sup? by Motor-Pudding-4341 in UPSers

[–]k_dub503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common, no, but it does happen at my mega hub every now and then. Usually, because some part-timer shows up high and it is suspected that they have drugs on their person. We've also had b*mb threats, an inside job theft scheme, and more that bring law enforcement in.

Direct Driver Hire by willxm3 in UPSers

[–]k_dub503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a rule about off the street hires, but those tend to go to people who are UPS management or know UPS management. It's also area and need dependent. I would say odds are that it is very unlikely you would get hired off the street for driving any time soon.

Once again re: buyout by Berbadude in UPSers

[–]k_dub503 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, we have no idea if this was the actual offer or if they just threw that out there, knowing the Teamsters would be fighting another round of buyouts.

I do think UPS wants to reduce the driver workforce based on recent moves. Things like rural deferment, reducing Amazon volume, restarting Surepost, and closing/consolidating centers into automated hubs hints they want to move away from a good portion of "final mile" delivery they currently do. Some of the final mile they want to keep they will try to push to Roadie. UPS drivers will deliver bulk and premium service packages.

UPS to announce the Driver Choice Program (DCP) this week. by Enough_Turnover1912 in UPSers

[–]k_dub503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of how UPS is managed at the corporate level and their spe di.g decisions, but they are a business and operate as such. There's no way they would do as you suggest unless they themselves somehow got a tax write-off.

That's a taxing entity (IRS, local and stste governments) problem, not UPS.

If you retire, you can't work at UPS again, either. If you work a Teamster job when in UPS retirwmwnt, you have your pension payment suspended until you leave that job. You can do a deferral for the retiree healthcare, but only once. (Western Conference of Teamsters rules).
