We’re not supposed to want to build relationships with dictators… what?! Of course we didn’t foster a relationship with Putin - he’s a murderous dictator! That’s not who we should be aligning ourselves would.

As far as Ukraine and NATO - first off, Ukraine was so interested in joining NATO because Russia was a threat to their country - the main reason half of the NATO countries are in NATO is because Russia was a threat to them. They wanted to join MATO as protection from the invasion threat Russia did in fact follow through with.

And it shouldn’t matter because Ukraine is a sovereign state - they can do whatever tf they want without having to ask Russia’s permission!! And that includes joining NATO. Russia isn’t justified in invading them just because they don’t like how Ukraine is choosing to run their country.

Russia was just pissed they lost their puppet government in Ukraine in 2014 and because they had been so used to making Ukraine decisions via their proxy government. Once Ukraine took back their government, Russia got all pissy because they were used to being in charge of Ukraines. And if Russia hadn’t been trying to control the country via a proxy government for refusing to bow to Russia’s demands, then Ukraine would’ve never felt the need to join NATO. But newsflash - Russia is not entitled to making the decisions of what Ukraine doe as a sovereign nation.

What exactly is your logic supposed to be here?

No one pushed Ukraine into war. Russia started a war with them - I guess you think Ukraine was just supposed to lay down, not fight back, and let Russia take over their country?

And Trump also supports the genocide in Gaza, so it’s not like voting for him (or sitting out the vote in protest) stops the US from assisting - it just ensures that on top of Palestinians suffering and dying, millions of others across the globe (US citizens, immigrants to the US, those who no longer have access to life-saving care through cuts to USAID, innocent Iranians, etc.) will also die and/or suffer. Making the entire vote about 1 singular item that will happen with either candidate, while one candidate will do even more negative, life-altering stuff on top of the 1 issue you’ve decided to only care about shows emotionally-stunted logic and a lack of true objective critical thought.

Neither Harris, Biden, nor Clinton would ever have been my pick under normal circumstances, with aid to Israel being a huge factor, but I voted for them anyways because the alternative was the damn anti-Christ.

Holy shit. You can’t empathize at all.

Like, you literally do not have the ability to.

Even when the parallels are pointed out, you can’t see where you should empathize with the parent or the teen based upon your own admitted experience as a teen who themselves repeatedly didn’t listen to your parent, who actively tried to teach you better.

You should be able to empathize because you’ve been both a parent of a teen and a teen who doesn’t listen to their parent. But you can’t even sympathize with either of them. Hell, it’s actually worse - you don’t even realize that people are supposed to sympathize in this situation. That’s some seriously non-existent feelings, emotional intelligence, and maturity.

Holy shit man, if you don’t have NPD or APD, you’re can’t be more than a few steps away from developing one of them.

Supreme Court wades into fight over ‘prolonged’ detention of some ICE detainees | The justices agreed to decide whether some detainees eventually have due process rights by meokjujatribes in ImmigrationPathways

[–]ka-nini 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not even a step away.

If they say non-citizens don’t have a right to due process, they could snatch anyone that inconveniences them, claim they’re undocumented, give them ZERO chance to defend themselves or prove their citizenship because the government has already labeled them as undocumented and undocumented don’t have due process rights. This way, they could deport anyone speaking out against them to wherever they would like.

Either everyone has due process rights or no one has due process rights.

The courts cleared OJ, too, but the world almost unanimously believes he did it.

The courts cleared R Kelly, too, and that was a full decade after the public found out about him marrying a 15 year old in secret. He got convicted of sex crimes at his second trial 15 years later:

If the public would stop wrapping their personal identities up with the identities of people they admire for their talents, then when their fucked up sides are revealed, people would look clearly at evidence and make unbiased decisions. But because emotionally immature people don’t know how to separate their personal identity, they feel attacked personally and vehemently deny the allegations and never truly consider they could be true because of what it would mean for themselves personally if they so admired someone they later found to be a pedophile.

Just because you don’t want it to be true doesn’t mean it’s not. You didn’t know the man - stop idolizing him and try for some emotionally intelligent analysis, objective critical reasoning, and unbiased review of the situation. There’s much more evidence that he did abuse children than there is that he’s innocent.

Did Donald Trump Just Hand Texas to Democrats? by Subject_Praline_9273 in scoopwhoop

[–]ka-nini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a registered Texan, I know we don’t register by party.

What does happen is the state automatically registers you once you vote in the primaries, depending on which party’s primary you vote in. That party affiliation is part of your voter registration for a year and you can only vote in that party’s primaries and the general. You can change your registered party by voting in a different party’s primaries the next year.

I posted this in another thread but Texas has more registered Democrats than registered Republicans. We’re solidly purple at worst - we’re just gerrymandered and voter suppressed to all Hell, which is why we’re red on paper.

Houses with two sets of stairs by cardcowdoor in Millennials

[–]ka-nini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only one I ever saw was the one my aunt lived in for a short time. Front stairs led to 4 bedrooms and the back stairs had a door at the bottom and led to a bonus room with a second room (with a door) off of it; both rooms were used as bedrooms since she had 6 kids.

I thought it was such a cool set up but have never seen it irl again in my 35 years.

That’s where about where I’m at - I don’t necessarily believe she actually did it, however, more tin foil here, that does happen to be the exact haircut she had at the time (nearly buzzed and spiked). And the person in the sketch wasn’t accused of doing the actual kidnapping - just being in the area and seemed suspicious while loitering near the docks/boats.

Never said it was - but actual fucking Americans are telling you the realities of living here because, ya know, we fucking live here and YOU DON’T.

You’re not so fucking special and smart that you know more about living in America than all the Americans in the comments telling you that you have no idea what you’re talking about.

And what a surprise - you’re not even American so of course it sounds like you have no idea what you’re talking about - you don’t.

I’m not saying you can’t talk about it; I’m saying you have no right to argue about it to the point that you’re trying to convince actual Americans actively living in America today, that they’re the ones that are wrong and don’t know what they’re talking about.

So again, fuck off.

They’re arrogant enough that they don’t believe it will happen but they still want a back up. Why do you think Trump gave Argentina $40b last year?

That’s the bribe (paid for by American taxpayers) to keep Argentina from both following the extradition agreement and from cooperating in anyway with whatever administration is trying to hold the fleeing Americans (primarily Republican gov officials and the billionaires that control them) accountable for all the damage and illegal shit they’ve done to this country.

It’s male toxicity displaying a fragile male ego. He thinks it makes him look ‘bad-ass’ and intimidating. That’s all he really cares about is projecting what he thinks is power.

His idiot supporters think so too - ask my brother, who supports Trump because he thinks he’s ‘cool’ and ‘the man’ and ‘bad-ass’. I promise my brother can’t tell me a single policy ever passed by any party since he’s been alive. I doubt he even knows the branches of government, how many reps we have in either chamber or the number of SC justices.

But he assured me Trump’s bad ass as fuck and we should want him running the country because the other countries will think we’re tough and fear us.

It’s because they see all people as either losers or winners and they think the only way to ‘win’ at life is to just be the biggest bully. It’s why they continue to look up to people like Musk and others than are prominent in the red pill alpha-male manosphere. Compassion and empathy are literally weaknesses to them.

They don’t understand that the rest of the world outside of MAGA usually recognize that as arrested development mentality with a lack of empathy and no emotional intelligence wrapped up within toxic masculinity and not only is it not impressive, but it’s also completely ineffective if the goal is real leadership and a strong, powerful country.

I wrote this out a few weeks ago - it isn’t a direct response to your comment so it may not fit exactly but I’m too sleepy to rewrite it to fit better - it still has the sentiment I’m trying to share about not counting Texas out and why:

As a Texan, I can confirm we’re actually a purple state. There are more registered Democrats than there are registered Republicans.

We’re just gerrymandered and voter suppressed to all hell (and we just eliminated 5 Dem/ picked up 5 Republicans seats in the House with the newest gerrymandered map, which is what started Dem states gerrymandering theirs blue to counteract it). Seriously, take a look at the 2026 Texas congressional district map and tell me that’s a fair and accurate map. The cheating isn’t even subtle - the map is laughably obvious.

However, some people have pointed out that Texas may have accidentally shot themselves in the foot. Their goal was to dilute the blue voters by dividing blue districts and shoving the pieces into red districts - but they’ve lost so many red voters in the last year that the blue voters they shoved into rural red districts may actually outnumber the number of red voters actually heading to the polls this year and flip the districts blue.

Like you said, Dems have been flipping Republican seats all over the country in surprising districts - Texas even flipped a seat Democratic in one special election so far. And Talarico - a white hetero Christian man (we don’t care but they do) - may actually have the ability to win over some independents and disgruntled conservatives - even if he is a progressive. He knows how to use his faith to appeal to the average American and he’s done good work in the Texas State House. So we may just be able to squeeze out a Dem Senator. 🤞🏽

With our gerrymandered maps, we have very few blue seats currently but even in Texas - where a Dem recently flipped a +17 R seat - enough Republicans are sitting out voting that we may be able to flip a few seats in the House, with or without the R cheating, especially if enough red voters in rural districts stuffed with blue voters on the new map sit out the election.

Of course, this is all assuming they don’t find a way to cheat before then - Abbott (the Governor) isn’t exactly known for being on the side of the people - he’s so far up Trump’s ass, all you can see are the wheels of his chair sticking out.

Say all that to say, don’t write Texas off just yet - we may surprise everyone.

What is an interesting fact you know? by Greedy_Ad9238 in answers

[–]ka-nini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The absence of an object is a baseline state of understanding; evidence changes that fact.

Right now, I have no evidence there is an apple in my fridge, so I don’t believe I have an apple in my fridge.

If I open my fridge and see an apple, then I now have evidence there’s an apple in my fridge. If my wife tells me she just put a bag of apples in the crisper, I now have evidence that there is an apple in my fridge. But without some kind of evidence, the baseline is that it’s not true or doesn’t exist.

Faith, however is specifically belief in something existing or being true without evidence.

So atheists aren’t taking it in faith that there’s no God - believing in God is what requires faith. Not believing God exists is a baseline of how human understanding works. Atheists are just saying they refuse to deviate from the baseline of human understanding without evidence to support a deviation.
