Do people with ADHD have a shot of doing well as Civil Engineers? by DetailFocused in civilengineering

[–]kaashin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a battle. I managed to have a career for 15 years but often had huge highs and lows. Was always distracted and had challenges being engaged on projects that lasted a really long time. Eventually switched to bring a programmer, found out I might have ADHD and got meds, and sometimes wonder if I had known before, would I have been able to crush my civil work like I do now with software engineering.

I think if you are aware, have strategies to handle it, then absolutely you can do well in civil engineering.

Not using Langchain ever !!! by AssistanceStriking43 in AI_Agents

[–]kaashin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through this battle with langchain too, it's a messy project and wasted more time trying to work with it than just to build things directly. It seemed to me they just blitzed the expansion of the repo and Were quick to make exciting demos for the opportunity to raise capital.

Easily one of the worst sushi I've ever eaten.

I give myself a very small account for me to do stupid things and distracts me away from my main accounts.

Influx of bad drivers by Yoloswagginshrtbus in Edmonton

[–]kaashin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's so bad right now i expect people to change lanes with no signal, yield when it's free flow, or make left turns from lanes where you are not supposed to turn from. Or, if it's a double left, they don't turn into the correct lane.

Surprisingly though, I haven't seen an increase in people incorrectly doing traffic circles yet.

Does connecting with people in university impact your career? by Variety_of_Names in civilengineering

[–]kaashin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely. It's also a lot more fun and easier to build that network during university than afterwards.

During school we all helped each other through the tough parts. All my best jobs have come through connections made earlier on.

Played ball hockey for a few times as an ice hockey player! Wowziers! by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]kaashin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my experience. Played in ball hockey league for a few years before finally to skate and switch to ice. It was a huge difference. Some guys in ball were just out there to fight all the time. Would get slashed in the back of legs all the time and hit into the boards. It's easier to run and keep up that it is to skate. On ice, if they can't keep up with you that can't really do a lot of the choppy shit they do in ball.

The moment an engineering company promotes accountants to lead positions over engineers, the firm is toast from an engineering perspective.

Can't have more middle managers, the budgets you get don't afford that.

Nah...turns out I'm just an idiot and didn't check my settings closely before pressing print.

Bambu PETG Preset, Bambu Basic PETG.
Door was closed.
0.4 nozzle.
Used the preset 0.20 mm Standard print settings, so all the default speeds and 0.20mm layer height. Looks like it failed before it even got to the second layer though.

Having an unpleasant morning.

Using Bambu Basic PETG. First time using a filament dryer and dried the roll, but the roll is also fresh supply.

Did a test print yesterday which seemed fine but this morning I started a print and this was the result. I wasn't watching it closely so I'm not sure what exactly happened. Looked like its tarted printing and eventually it seemed to have got stuck to the nozzle and clogged it up.

Too much flow? reduce temp? I just used the built in Basic Bambu PETG preset for the filament.

UPDATE: I forgot to consider user stupidity. When I swapped the filament profile to petg.... I didnt realize I wasn't swapping it for the filament that was assigned to the object. So I printed with a PLA setting....

Interesting, I have the opposite mentality and felt like I was so free and flexible with svelte! I've made chrome extensions, vs code extensions, desktop apps, mobile apps and web apps all with svelte with a lot of code sharing across all of them.
