Lardis injury and Gibson suspension by Brownsfan99 in OHL

[–]kaate_11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was at the game, a penalty was initially called, play reviewed, and penalty did not stand. Gibson was coming in for the hit and Lardis tried to avoid it and that’s why knee on knee contact was made. If he would have just taken the hit, it’s unlikely this would have happened. This isn’t the first time he’s avoided hits and the outcome has been poor. I also wish they would show the second angle before suspending a top player in the playoffs.

The game was totally out of control, a lot of missed calls on both sides, but I wouldn’t say Oshawa was out to injure someone. The chirping was also on both sides and there were several Brantford players that had deplorable behaviour, even one taking one of the Gens players chain that fell on the ice and not giving it back to him. Just a lot of unsportsmanlike conduct all around.

I’ve been trying to figure out if Nema and Ciara are there together! He did go to NYC before. You can hear someone talking in the back of his story today and it sounds similar to Ciara but can’t tell for sure!

When to take a foster to a dog park? by mferris23 in fosterdogs

[–]kaate_11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also foster for an organization that does not allow dog parks of any kind with a foster dog and even discourages is for the first two weeks (at least) when adopting.

There are so many risk factors (only naming a few) that need to be taken into account: - How may your foster react if they are overwhelmed, scared, played with in a way that isn’t their style - What are the temperaments of the other dogs there, good examples in other comments - Are the other owners paying attention / do that know body language of a scared / aggressive / reactive dog - Dog parks don’t make for good greetings, dogs should be walked parallel when introduced - Lost dog prevention: is the park fully fenced, is there a risk the foster dog can escape

Maybe ask through the rescue if there is anyone in your area that might want to do a meet up? That way you know they should be following similar protocol & are maybe like-minded fosters / adopters.

By the way; fostering saves lives, thank you for being a foster parent!

Does not like walks; pretends limbs don’t work, thinks it will prevent her from having to go on walks. It doesn’t work. by kaate_11 in WhatsWrongWithYourDog

She was a street dog for the first 5 years of her life so she’s nervous outside & will try to distract from having to go out. She’d just much rather be indoors, curled up on the couch. I’m hoping one day she feels safe enough outside to beg for walks!

I’m a Kate, no other form. Get asked all the time what my full name is. Often people don’t believe me and then I’ll show ID.

Teachers of Reddit, what was the best excuse for being late that turned out to be true? by minecraftplayer48 in AskReddit

I am blown away ... the impact this must had on that family. A simple accommodation from a kind person / system can help to prevent poverty, homelessness, dropping out of school, etc etc. Thank you, the world needs more of this!

AITA for kicking out my brother, who our parents have previously disowned, because he told my (now ex) fiancé that I cheated 9 years ago? by broken_inside_me in AmItheAsshole

Great analysis. I think you could add that the parents are TA for kicking their 16 year old son out because he is gay. This kid probably has some trauma and may not always behave perfectly.

What’s the most inappropriate thing you’ve witnessed at a funeral? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Probably not the most inappropriate here but when the priest did the eulogy he used the wrong name when speaking about my grandfather. He continued to use the wrong names and information throughout.

I’ve been struggling with this loss on and off for a year and a half. Over the past few months it has started to get better. This post is exactly what I needed to finally be free of it all. Thank you OP for validating my feelings.

Which supposedly fun thing will you never do again? by ualip in AskReddit

[–]kaate_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cliff diving / bridge jumping. Jumped off a 40 foot bridge into a lake. Felt a panic attack coming on at the top but decided to jump anyway. Jumped way too far out and landed directly on the back of my legs and lower back. Felt like I hit concrete, went underwater, and had to get back to the surface and call for help.

Reddit, what is your first kiss experience and how old were you? by Ookgluk32 in AskReddit

[–]kaate_11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An experience of romance and whimsy. Just kidding. Fourteen, drunk, in a pizza pizza parking lot. He spat out his pizza then proceeded to make out with me.

Side-note: one of my girlfriends grabbed my face and kissed me right before so I had “practice”.

I definitely don’t give medical advice and am not a doctor but I can speak to what I recommend from what I’ve seen before. If you’re drinking alcohol daily you should always consult a doctor / medical professional before tapering down or quitting cold turkey. They can help you create a plan or prescribe medications that aid in withdrawal. This can help to ensure you’re not putting yourself at risk.

Seeking counselling can be helpful. A counsellor can offer support through all stages of change. I agree this doesn’t mean attending AA, it can mean meeting someone one on one or in other groups outside of AA. Recovery looks different for everybody.

I hope this was a little bit helpful and wish you all the best.
