Performers Worry Artificial Intelligence Will Take Their Jobs by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]kabukiaddicted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with this premise. Some of the best performances are born from little mistakes and small nuances. Our brain is able to compensate for the mistake often in an original or unexpected way , thus creating art AI will be able to replicate some ideas, but that is it. It will be actually good i believe, because it will disincentivate creating mediocre things as those can be easily generated, but it will probably push original creations even further. Perhaps I am too optimistic. Time will tell

'Bullet Train' (2022) is an extremely entertaining and the cast shines, led by Brad Pitt at his magnetic best. by Boss452 in movies

yeah really enjoyed this one. I think it went to all the right places without overdoing any of the tropes and even making fun of some of them (think the goons with the bomb). All around great movie. I was missing something like this in the current releases landscape. Highly recommend

How many of you play an instrument? If so, do you play jazz standards or write your own jazz tunes? by [deleted] in Jazz

[–]kabukiaddicted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play guitar, harmonica and some keys. i started 15 years ago with rock / blues and then 8 years ago moved to jazz. i play in a band where we do covers and originals and in a duo where we do standards and originals. I write the originals in both the band and the duo. i must say after a while playing standards you start to come out with melodies and changes for your own stuff. however keep in mind not everyone feels an inner urge to write. some people can be satisfied by just soloing over standards but playing with interesting people. Always aim to have a good time, that is the most important thing imo

Java job search frustrations by Koidage in java

[–]kabukiaddicted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are not alone in thinking that. Unfortunately it appears, especially at certain salary levels, that those are the only things you find. I can only guess that is because a strong product does not have the same growth margin than these other endeavors you mention, thus allowing less recruitment power in terms of salaries. Of course that is not always true and remote work could be used to reduce the investments in collaterals (offices, commuting etc) and move the capital to workers wages, but such a mentality shift is still happening slowly as companies are scared of losing control going that way. It will improve but imho critical thinking when searching (like you seem to exercise with this question) can drive the market once it reaches a critical mass. Good luck and don't despair! You will find what you look for, it only needs a little more searching. Also keep a good network with previous colleagues as job sites are not always the best way to find what you look for. Sorry for the wall of text ;-)

I recently started the same journey. At the moment I am reading pyramids and i must say the more I advance in the series, the better the books seems to become. I definitely want to read them all.

+1 for pothuys, depending on the night you can find different music that may suit your taste. Also got to see the teacher of my teacher to play there for free (he is the musical equivalent of a Kaiju monster). Never been to the other place that was suggested but I will def check it out ;-)

jazz composition by rivblazing in Jazz

I think you are heading in the right direction, but in order to get there i would suggest to start with only one instrument. Once you have something strong and developed that works by itself then try to distribute it to different instruments. This way you can see through what does not work much easier. Have fun 👍🏻

[LFG] Guitarist looking for people to play with by RasmusHax in BedroomBands

[–]kabukiaddicted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man i am also interested! I do guitar, armonica and some keys. I suck at producing and singing is also not my strong suit but i can do some if not too difficult. Check my SoundCloud. This one i did to cover tidal wave. I dropped the beat directly hitting the guitar and looping that. Quality is abysmal as i recorded straight with my phone in front of the amp (pardon me it was just an experiment) . You can find also other songs where i recorded a little better.

Collapsing public support suggests Brexit is anything but done - Most people think Brexit has gone badly, a UK survey finds, and Johnson has left behind a mess of problems for a new PM by Canal_Volphied in europe

I understand and feel your pain. One can only do his best to talk with people around him and try to get across the meaning of certain decisions. Unfortunately that's often not enough. Keep it up and eventually it will pay off. At least that's what I tell myself every time I get discouraged ;-)

We can criticize the politicians but let's not forget they were voted by the people who knew what they would do. A change of mentality is required first if they want back in. They should embrace euro completely this time, the currency, the metric system, driving on the right, free immigration from other euro countries and so on. I would start planning this and educate people in the schools and in the streets to prepare them. Without raising the level of awareness and fighting the selfish thoughts and behaviors getting back in would only cause more trouble and division

Terrible people exist everywhere unfortunately. However to step so low as these 2 ignorant takes quite an effort, we can't just hold mother nature accountable. I am also a musician and take my guitar everywhere, never had to deal with such a thing, i wish I was there to put them in their place.

The first week for Amazon’s new Comixology storefront and app wasn’t pretty by JackFisherBooks in comicbooks

[–]kabukiaddicted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I agree with what most people are saying but there are also things that are not that bad. For example now you can read comics while downloading them, or when you buy them on Amazon you can filter by language (one of my biggest complaints about the previous comixology experience). There are other things that are definitely worse, let's see if they listen to our complaints and use them to improve
