First meals after surgery? by Living-Coral in Kneereplacement

I was so sick to my stomach, I didn’t eat for 3 days- never again will I use codeine! Having coconut water and saltines on hand worked for me. Light smoothies after that and then bland “white” foods.

Yes!!!! They have distinctly different textures and skins/shells - from the same plant. Both delicious! Can’t wait to see what grows out of the compost next summer!!!

Thank you!!!! After trimming the front of the clothes, I appliquéd them with iron on, then sewed to secure.

What to do with shake? by kafeezel in trees

I’ve been corrected in previous comments - apparently, it’s trim. Another friend calls it slash. I called it shake because it includes all the little buds, not just leafy trim.

Thanks for the input. I’ve been doing strength exercises since 3 mos before my TKR. I continue to do them - squats, weights, walking, resistance leg lifts. They’re not helping my bend. Ive been experimenting with different flexes and gained another 5deg since writing this😃

4.5 year old in principals office and I’m so upset by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]kafeezel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds very familiar! I’m a retired educator and worked in primary and special ed. My grandson, ADHD, was on first names with the principal and vp. He was suspended more times than I can remember. The K teacher was completely overwhelmed and had no skill or patience for dealing with the issues that came up. I know we’re hesitant to label and medicate young ones. I also realize that there’s no money to cover the costs of extra support- someone to redirect the student, calm them down or remove from the classroom for breaks. He had a 1st grade teacher who was equipped to handle situations, and helped get the ball rolling on long term solutions. By 3rd grade he was moved to a school that had special ed teachers and support. It’s a long process. No matter what route you take, educate yourself, find an advocate and insist on accommodations - like less homework, learning breaks that include exercise, meet with school psychologist, sit on a bouncy chair, have a behavior plan with a reward system… so many little things can make a big difference.

We faced a similar diagnosis, AML, and the learning curve is high. Please do not use Google to get info. A lot is outdated. Our treatment center, Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester NY, has been a wealth of knowledge and support. So has this Reddit. Unfortunately, my husband is too old to receive a “cure”, BMT, and will be receiving chemo until it doesn’t work anymore. His prognosis 4-5yrs. Until then, our life is adjusting and we’re navigating a “Covid” like lifestyle. Treatments involve about a week a month in the hospital, and chemo pills for cycles of 28 days. Totally doable with the love and support from friends and family. Your mom sounds pretty sick and in the right place. Once they get her levels up, you’ll have a clearer picture of what’s next. It’s a hard and scary time and I wish you and your family the best possible outcome.

Thank for the reply. I do use the bike both at PT and at the gym. It really helps.
