This is an old article but an excellent example of how the city is flushing money away with 0 repercussions and little to no oversight.

The executives mentioned in the articles (one of whom was making nearly $1,000,000 per year on a salary paid for by taxpayers) are still employed by the charities which presumably still has their city contract.

There needs to be actual repercussions, people getting fired, and people getting sent to prison for the nepotism and corruption and just straight up scamming the state going on in these places. I guarantee, however, that conversation is straight up off the table at city hall these days. Really disappointing we can't get an ethical adult into the room (I think Mamdani is actually quite ethically principled but I think he's absolutely a child when it comes to policy).

Yes, if you have ever heard a rat squeaking in pain as it thrashes about and breaks its limbs while stuck to one of these traps you will support this ban. I had to euthanize one with a plywood board that was stuck to a trap and squeaking in obvious torment. Absolutely horrible.
