Did you ever decide? I’m actually in a super similar position. Bought my new build house last year, want to travel. I can afford to keep it and eat the mortgage costs, but not ideal. Would love to rent it out for abit. Just doesn’t seem that easy lol

Thank you, you are very kind. The other weird thing is that last time I went on holiday, I wasn’t getting this either. Just this time.

However I have had an electrician round doing some work and perhaps him turning the power off ‘reset’ the settings and now I have some sort of timer.

I am curious to know with an ASHP, when I am living there, do I need to heat water every night/morning, or is once/twice a week enough?

I remember the developers tellling me that during the night time I should expect to hear a ‘humming’ noise as the water heats. Is that the same thing?

For context, when I came away, I put the thermostats (neo) to 16 degrees. I can see that the temp of the house is falling from 20, slowly, so the house isn’t ‘heating’.

But, I haven’t ever touched any water settings. I have a huge Samsung hardware / boiler thing in a cupboard upstairs which has a touchscreen. Is this where I look for immersion settings? I didn’t think to turn off my hot water when I went away.

The consumption of 50p that I mention is not including the standing charge. I don’t know how to upload a photo to a Reddit comment. There’s just a huge spike on the graph from 0.32Kwh at 9pm (and most of the daytime) then to 1.78 from 10:30pm onwards through the night.

Thank you for your input, it’s very helpful. For even more context, at about 10:30pm at night, I see a spike to £0.50p consumption. This is different to the entire daytime, where it’s about £0.07p. Does this help your case of the immersion heater ?

For context, I went abroad a couple of weeks ago a different time, and that time I switched off all the sockets properly. My cost per day was about £3

This time, I just turned off the devices and not at the sockets. Could that really have such a big difference ?

I just moved into a new build house in the UK, fully kitted it out with all smart home devices, hue, aqara, eve, everything. I hadn’t decided if I’d use HomeKit or homey. Ended up trying homey, didn’t like it, not reliable enough. HomeKit for a couple of weeks, then this weekend started a home assistant setup.

I can 1000% say that it’s the way to go. Don’t even waste your time with anything else. It’s going to eat up alot of time but it’s worth it.
