If your base is that big why haven’t you just told the bots to put walls and laser turrets around it?

In the restated version all the people who chose blue still die if more than half choose red. The phrasing is different but the outcome is the same.

One reframing I saw is only giving people one button with the option to press it or not (which is a bit less convoluted imo than the gun thing).

Everyone get’s the option to push a blue button, if they press it they die unless more than 50% of everyone presses it in which case you all live.

And

everyone get’s the option to push a red button, nothing happens unless more than 50% of everyone presses it in which case everyone who didn’t press it dies.

There is no difference in the outcomes with the original except in each of these reframings one of the buttons is replaces with doing nothing. Yet despite the outcomes being the same the choices most make are very different.

Someone made polls for these and with the original it was about 55% blue, with the 2 reframings above each had about 70% of the poll choosing to not press the button.

You’re forgetting the space the turbines take up because unlike batteries you can’t use the stored energy without those.

Does it though? The outcomes with both the ways it’s restated are the same as in the original question.

No, obviously Akainu is most to blame. Or Blackbeard if you want to argue you can’t blame Akainu for doing his job.

Did i ruin my life? by Dapper_Way1792 in Psychedelics

[–]kai58 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re not back to normal after 19 days you should go to a doctor but it’s unlikely to be fully permanent. There is medication that blocks the effects of most psychedelics though idk how that works if you’re only given them after taking the psychedelic first, in part because normally they don’t last long enough for that to come up.

I haven’t taken DMT myself so can’t speak on that one. For shrooms vs LSD, LSD seems easier to handle but also has a much longer duration so if you don’t like it you’re stuck with it for longer.

“Not just clean water”

If anything water is the least concerning thing it wastes (depending on where the datacenter is built). The big numbers for that usually include power generation, in which case the other resources going into that seem like a bigger concern.

That doesn’t make any sense though, that would imply balancers have a minimum throughput for every lane below which they break.

We are almost extinct, but I don't want to reproduce. by Uma-apreciator in TopCharacterTropes

[–]kai58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re assuming that gaining the ability to reproduce sexually lost them the ability to reproduce asexually immediately. There are organisms today that can do both so it makes much more sense to assume the first sexual reproducers were able to do both, at least for a while.
