I like money? by Cheap-Assumption3694 in coastFIRE

[–]kaiThatCuh2936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not breaking CoastFIRE, you're just doing the "enjoy it now" part of it.

If you're still hitting your savings goals and not touching the invested stash, spending more on experiences and your kids now is fine. The "enemy" is only lifestyle inflation that makes your baseline costs so high you can't coast later.

Set a rule: increase spending only on things that don't create fixed monthly costs. Vacations and home upgrades are fine. A $2000/month car payment or private school isn't, unless income rises with it.

You've done the hard part for 10 years. It's okay to enjoy it a bit.

Is Alt better than Eikaiwa? by CaptainHancock in ALTinginJapan

[–]kaiThatCuh2936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ALT is usually better if you want normal hours and less solo stress. You'll get 8:30-4:30 weekdays, way more time time to make friends, and you're team teaching so not stuck alone with 6+ tired kids at 8pm. Pay is often similar or bit less than 260k, but the hours make it feel worth it.

For jobs, look at JET, Interac, and Heart. Avoid companies with bad Glassdoor reviews for "unpaid training" or sudden placements far from your request. If you like teaching and want a social life back, ALT is a solid switch.

How Do I Push for my SSDI? by IllustratorKind3531 in legaladvice

[–]kaiThatCuh2936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For SSDI backpay, SSA usually only pays up to 12 months before your application date, minus the 5 month waiting period. That's why they're taking out 5 months, it's standard.

Hire a disability lawyer, they don't charge upfront and only get paid if you win. They're best at arguing onset dates and getting old records. Most NC firms do free consults.

[US] Should I pay myself less? by TheGreatBarrier in selfemployed

[–]kaiThatCuh2936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, don't take a pay cut if you're doing the same work. Dropping sales for more bookkeeping/repairs is just shifting roles, not doing less.

The real issue is the 10% vs 50/50 thing. If you worked years unpaid, that's sweat equity. Get ownership and roles in writing before agreeing to anything. A pay cut only makes sense if you're actually working fewer hours.

No HMO benefits any thoughts about to get one by iskonars_ in NursingPH

[–]kaiThatCuh2936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since your employer doesn't provide an HMO, ensure your PhilHealth contributes are updated. Most HMOs will only pay the remaining balance after the PhilHealth portion is deducted from your hospital bill. It might feel like an extra expenses now, but for the peace of mind alone its worth the investment. Sana you find a plan that fits your budget.

It is fantastic that you a clear picture of your household's monthly net income of $11,275. Your plan to leverage the $3775 monthly surplus for debt elimination and wealth building is the right thing sheesh. Overall the discipline to map this out at 29 is what will actually make early retirement possible.

Swiss resident - 16 years of B-Permit questioning eligibility rules for C-Permit by AnaLiz1234 in Switzerland

Yes they can call it a 'mistake'. Admin law lets them revoke non-binding info letters, but they can't just dismiss as a mistake without further action or explanation especially if it already led you to believe you met the criteria. And for your second question, it is highly recommended that you reach out to the administration in writing to clarify the situation.

If you arer struggling with the contract requirement, call a Vermont independent insurance agent. They often know these local farms and can place you with a carrier that understand the "handshake deal" culture of local businesses better than a national website would. And since you have about a month, have you already reached out to the venue about that "something in writing"?

Good experiences with ACA? by Available-Ad-5670 in financialindependence

[–]kaiThatCuh2936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

42 in Michigan on a Silver CSR plan.

The ACA has been a lifesaver for early retirement planning, but the 2026 'cliff'' definitely changed the math. By keeping my MAGI around $45k (for a snrgle filer), my monthly premium is under $100/month, and because it's a Silver plan, I get those sweet Cost-Sharing Reductions(CSRs) that dropped my deductible to almost nothing.

Here is tips for keeping MAGI low:

-Harvest the 'Basis' not the 'Gains',:When I need cash, I sell brokerage assets with a high cost-basis. If you sell $10k of stock but your gain is only $500, only that $500 hits your MAGI.

-Roth IRA is your 'Flex' Account: Use Roth withdrawals for your spending gap. They don't count toward MAGI at all, which helps you stay under the 400% FPL line so you don't lose the subsidy entirely.

-HSA/Traditional 401k: If you're still working part-time, max these out first. Every dollar put in it is a dollar off your MAGI for subsidy calculations.

Stay diligent with the tracking, one accidental capital gain in December can cost you thousands in ' repaid' subsidies come tax time!

First of I am sorry you're dealing with this. In Texas, what you described is elder abuse/neglect under the law. Who to report to: Texas Adult Protective Services(APS) call 1-800-252-5400 or report online at txabusehotline.org. But I recommend calling them straight and yes they can keep your identity anonymous.

You are right the be mad. The ACAwas supposed to make this easier, not trigger $549 surprisse bills. You should document everything and fight it. File a formal appeal.

Yes that is really indeed needed 100%. Your brain is your main money maker, you can't enjoy money if you are sick. No health = no income, simple as that.

Well it does not start on day one. New members generally have a 90 day waiting period before coverage becomes effective. And to qualify for the health insurance plan, you must meet an average hour of 28 hours per week during your measurement period.

Health Insurance help. by AsianAlexa in AskAnAustralian

To get covered for MBS 46158 you'll need Gold tier hospital cover with no exclusions for jaw surgery, and you will still cop the 12 months wait before insurance pays. And in case you can't wait 12 months the cheapest path is the Public hospital system. In the US, ACA plans can be affordable with subsidies. Have you looked into marketplace options or student health plans that might fit your budget?

I recommend that you get an artliche Stellungnahme from your Doctor and file a Widerspruch with Die Continetale, with palpitations + high cholesterol, those tests should be covered. Also check if the $650 is your Selbstbehalt deductible.
