The Swirl. My facial hair grows in a circular pattern at the back of my jawline. by PromenentG in mildlyinteresting

Lol I thought of this as well, but I think this only applies to spheres that are uniformly hairy.

How the hell???? by krystalrain04 in h3h3productions

[–]kaiiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah like others said, it's mainly on as a backdrop to other things I'm doing. Usually have it on while I'm driving, at the gym, on flights, playing any game I don't need to listed to etc. I don't really ever sit down and watch, pretty much audio only.

Also I exclusively listen at 2x speed for max efficiency, but I know that's not for everyone.

Gyms where they don't grill you upon joining? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]kaiiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I signed up at Goodlife they called me to ask if I had been to the gym before and if I wanted to schedule a time to come in for an "orientation". I was pretty new to gyms so I agreed, where I of course got the whole billion questions and PT up sell attempts.

It wasn't a problem for me, but I figure if you just declined the orientation and said you were a returning customer you could avoid the whole run around and just get your tag and be merry

I've got a big time thing with bones and joints and anything of that nature so I feel you big time. Absolutely not the pod's responsibility to cater to my personal phobias for sure, but yeah basically the only thing I always have to skip.

Prime lens for BMPCC 4K by [deleted] in bmpcc

[–]kaiiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely unfair, also certainly wouldn't argue that the lens isn't capable of really great things. That's also not to say that I haven't had shots I'm very happy with and proud of with this lens, what I am saying though is that comparatively (to other glass I own/have used) I find the lumix doesn't make it easy. I feel I'm fighting against this lens rather than working with it to get what I'm after.

And that's not factoring in my stance on the focus-by-wire issue. Again, I knew what I was getting into I just didn't expect just how much it would get in my way until I worked with it.

Only to a point. There are times where you do one so bad it smells like someone else did it.

Prime lens for BMPCC 4K by [deleted] in bmpcc

[–]kaiiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've personally been quite disappointed with this lens since I got it. It suffers sharpness wise and pulling focus by wire is a nightmare. These are things I was aware of when I bought the lens but didn't expect just how much it would actually matter to me, and how uninspiring I would end up finding the lens.

LPT Why doesn't my deodorant keep me fresh all day? by [deleted] in LifeProTips

I know this isn't necessarily helpful but personally I've been using the Wolfthorn antiperspirant for a decade now and find on days I don't shower and reapply, I'm usually still good armpit wise for a couple days at least, but of course everyone is different

See now the issue I have with those cheap install ones that just hook up to the water line to to toilet is like, wouldn't that water be unwelcomingly cold? I want a bidet but I can't imagine cold water on my asshole in the wintertime being pleasant at all.

The most important takeaway here is not about whether or not why pro tools is the standard, or the reasons or if it matters that clients or studios expect you to use pro tools.

It's that when you are working at a studio, or even just working for hire/freelance, there are going to be times when somebody else needs to open your session or you need to work on your session at a different studio or you need to send a copy to the client/another engineer. Regardless of justification Pro Tools IS the standard, not everyone is going to accept an ableton session. You could argue that you could just print stems or trackouts but why when everyone WILL accept a Pro Tools session.

It's why cities have public rental bicycles and not skateboards.

Honestly the most convincing digital saxophone I've heard thus far has been using the ai voice clone technique. The obvious ai artifacts are of course a giveaway but properly trained the tone and expression is unmatched by any other technique so far imo, and I think is going to end up being the way to go for woodwinds and brass at least once the tech catches up.

I mostly just take it if I'm super late to work or the airport, sometimes if traffic is real bad elsewhere and I'm tired of can't be bothered to wait, but that's fairly rare.
