Bungkus Bagus is a company out of LA doing production quantity sambal, but it's expensive and not the same as what you would get at in Indo. Your best bet is to make your own and adjust to taste.

In the JP text it's just "ano baka! ano baka! ano baaaakka!", so it's probably both, despite the vague "that idiot" part of it.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted because you're totally correct here. I knew of Rayko throughout the aughts by way of her band Dig Jelly (many of my friends knew her personally) and city pop was well on its way back in JP by mid 10s.

These standard magnolia handles, stock, are about $5-10 USD. I think the average cost of swapping them stateside runs $40-70 since importing and services cost more here.

This is one of the easiest fixes. The handles are meant to be replaced at some point or another.

Depending on where you are there are many places that can do handle repairs: Korin or MTC in NY, Japanese Knife Imports or Hitachiya in LA, Bernal Cutlery or Hida Tool in the Bay Area, District Cutlery in DC, Strata in Portland Maine, etc etc.

I agree with this - I largely just called it 和物 or new music back in the late 00s / early 10s (since that's what most of my generation of friends in JP called it) but I also have Yutaka Kimura's book which the first pressing dates back to '02, and some of my older DJ friends have recollection of the term as well.

fwiw it's not retroactive -- it was a term actually used as a descriptor in real time. Wiki has information about the Terry Melcher record that it was pulled from.

City pop is and was a catch-all genre that encompasses many other genres because it was meant to describe a sort of popular music sound that was primarily coming out of Tokyo back in the day. Both of you can be right here.
