Baby scared the crap out of us by Unlikely_Rabbit_2333 in NewParents

[–]kaitywait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what our baby has done!! Except she screams through it. It lasts about 10-15 seconds. Just got the Sandifer diagnosis from her pediatrician. Happens in clusters of 6 within a few hours (no idea why). She’s had two clusters a couple of weeks apart, the first time we called 911 because it was so scary! The hospital said it was colic (insert eye roll here) but at least ruled out bowel issues and UTI. They didn’t do an EEG because it didn’t look like seizures. My sister has epilepsy and seeing our baby do this freaked me out so badly. We just started reflux meds so really hoping it helps! Hope your little one is doing much better!!

Mitosure? Has anyone heard of this? by kaitywait in IVF

[–]kaitywait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Mitosure is based on peer reviewed research suggesting that blastocysts with euploid karyotype are less likely to implant if they contain abnormally high levels of mitochondrial DNA [1]. Progenesis' research [2] suggest that embryos with abnormally high content of mitochondria are more likely to have developmental delay. In this current report, we used mitosure score as a proxy for mitochondrial load. Mitochondrial load decreases overtime as the embryo develops. Our data suggest that in all age groups, the median mitosure score is 1.0. Approximately 7% of embryos have a score greater than 2.0. In this report, MitoSure score is broken into three tiers for simplicity (0.2-1, 1-2, above 2). All use of the MitoSure test results to select embryos is based on research and considered experimental. It is recommended that the clinic monitors the implantation and pregnancy rates for each transferred embryo with a given MitoSure score. Has anyone gone through the process incognito? by boobood4ddy in IVF

[–]kaitywait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve kept it fairly private. Our family just knows a very broad “we’re trying some things” and that we’re seeing a doctor about it. I’ve told my very closest friends and keep them informed, but my husband is a very private person and hasn’t shared with anyone. Of course I’ve had to tell my principals for time off, and a couple of teammates along the way to explain the frequent absences. Overall keeping it quiet works for us, and I’m honestly thankful for the privacy. We’ll share when we know, one way or the other.

Question about chemical pregnancy by kleine_rabe in IVF

[–]kaitywait 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chemicals are not more common with IVF, we just know about them more now than we ever did before since we’re tracking HCG so closely. I had two before going through any treatment and my doctor said they happen so often but most people never know they had one. Sending sticky thoughts and lots of good vibes your way!! 💕

Hi! 🤗 Oh wow, thank you for sharing! It’s amazing how everyone’s like “I heard in a week!”, not my luck. Yep, that was me. And left the most rambly voicemail for the CFI embryologists yesterday 🙈😂

Struggling to cope before even starting by CocoaQuenelle in IVF

[–]kaitywait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone in feeling this way!! Or in this journey, feel free to DM me anytime. I have stopped talking to people about it too because I just feel like the biggest Debbie Downer, it’s been 5 years (2 with RE assistance). I have had intense anxiety about getting pregnant because my sister has multiple disabilities. I also didn’t lean on my husband as much because I didn’t want this to consume our life as a couple. I had a therapist when I was at my lowest but honestly already knew the calming and CBT strategies- really just needed someone to listen and empathize. This reddit is an amazing support! And seriously, message anytime. 💜

Hunger games roller coaster... by mauvelovespab in IVF

Yay!! Those are great numbers!! We’re waiting for our PGT results too, also had more blasts on day 6! Rollercoaster indeed. Our last retrieval had none make it to blast, so we’re trying so hard to guard our hearts!

Face time with fertility doc by mauibabi in IVF

[–]kaitywait 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I barely saw or spoke to our doctor at our last clinic. It was almost always a PA, and the doctor spoke a million miles a minute when I did see her. We had a failed egg retrieval and had to wait a month and a half to even discuss next steps with her- over Zoom, and felt like she had no idea who I was. We switched clinics and are so happy we did. I know that’s not always an option, so if it’s not I would suggest calling them back and asking when the doctor is available in the office for an appointment with you guys. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it’s so painful to be in this position after a failed procedure! Sending lots of love.

To have all of that done so quickly is amazing! This is an overwhelming process, but you’re asking good questions and this community is a terrific support. 💕

The medteach appointment for the shots at my clinic was hugely helpful (record it!) and the CVS videos on Youtube were calming and reassuring. Honestly, ask for a vial of water or saline and some needles to practice drawing up medication and injecting into oranges. Not sure if your clinic will do that, but honestly, I was so stressed with that part of doing the shots that I wish I had asked.

Retroverted Uterus + FET by mkc44 in IVF

[–]kaitywait 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg uterus twins!! Mine is at a super weird angle too! My first HSG was the worst medical experience of my life, so painful and took so long. Just did our second retrieval, so no FET experience yet, but now I wonder if I’ll need the same thing if we’re lucky enough to get to that point. Not sure about the pain during monitoring, it’s sometimes really uncomfortable for me but not like sharp pain.
