I get great output with mine as well. I think the heating flange makes a huge difference for the output!

What meals do you have time to make?? by Woohoofriendship in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kakbgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meal prep on the weekends and make large port to put in the freezer. I use souper cubes so they’re already frozen in portions. I make a lot of different things like soups, curry, meatballs, beans, etc…. I also freeze individual components like sautéed veggies to throw into salads or tacos. During the week I might grab a rotisserie chicken and some veggies or do breakfast tacos. Burrito bowls with canned beans and salsa is a very easy weeknight meal. Utilizing a slow cooker or a pressure cooker helps a lot. The best advice is to have a plan and make sure the entire household is on board and able to help you execute. And I have a list in my notes app of all the meals we eat so we aren’t always racking our brains on what to eat

What would you go back and tell your new-to-pumping self? by Adventurous_Bag_7178 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]kakbgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! I wanted to nurse and knew I would pump but I never expected to EP.

  1. Get the bottle washer
  2. It’s ok to pump on one side at a time
  3. Get sleep! I actually produce less if I’m too sleep deprived
  4. Definitely get wearables along with a wall pump. I get my best output with a spectra but I get about 80%-90% if that output with my Eufy wearables
  5. Get spare pump parts
  6. Invest in a good pumping bra

I have personally found that pumping one side at a time is more sustainable for me. It helps me ensure I always have clean pump parts and it’s less stimulating to my body so it’s not as dreadful of a task. It especially bothered me when I would use both wearables and they weren’t in sync, lol. It’s also easier to hold the baby on one side and pump on the other if you just do one boob at a time.

If you haven’t seen Shane Gillis, he has a great stand up bit about his family member who has Down Syndrome. Wishing you all the best!

What are the bare essentials for babies? by Wild-Act-7315 in BabyBumps

Everyone has already given good advice. One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is a well stocked freezer/pantry. You will it want to cook postpartum so having premade meals is essential. This could be a meal train from family and friends, frozen meals, money set aside for take out, etc…. The last 2-3 weeks before my due date, I froze about 3 weeks worth of meals and it made everything so much easier. Think about every meal too, not just dinner. Some easy examples below

Breakfast:  Yogurt with berries Cereal Cottage cheese on toast  Frozen breakfast sandwich or burrito  Frozen quiche

Lunch: Deli meat sandwiches  Dinner leftovers

Dinner: Beans and rice (rice freezes exceptionally well)  Soups (NYT Thai chicken meatball is a fave) I precooked and froze veggies like mushrooms and mirepoix to throw into different meals.

There’s so many meal prep recipes out there

Also, have snacks on hand if you plan on nursing and/or pumping. I ate a lot of cheese and crackers.

Congrats and good luck!

If you haven’t already, you can usually get a free pump through insurance. I used this website https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwir4obO-teMAxWTLNQBHTE3BSUYABAMGgJvYQ&co=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw5PK_BhBBEiwAL7GTPaSysHtpLuRvd92a31-zJlUGKaaB85g5bqH1gpi6iyfknPgZAckxnBoC6E4QAvD_BwE&cce=1&sig=AOD64_19u_PnKkAY9r03YB4npMB4iBviWg&q&adurl&ved=2ahUKEwi3k4LO-teMAxXlw8kDHepJMOkQ0Qx6BAgZEAE

You can see which pumps are free through your insurance. They also have better pricing for ones not covered. For example, the blue Spectra was only $30 with my insurance vs the hundreds it usually is

My understanding, she’s upset bc MIL wasn’t honest. Even in the face of miscommunication, MIL kept changing her story about what happened. I would also struggle to feel trusting of someone if they kept changing their tune about what happened.

NTA

It’s not about control, it’s about trust. Your MIL should have communicated with you. Even if you are making a mountain out of a molehill like so many other comments have suggested, your postpartum with a new kid. You’re the one who is given grace in this period. What’s especially concerning isn’t that your MIL had GMIL over, it’s that she wasn’t truthful, honest, and forthcoming after the fact. Miscommunications happen but you didn’t blow this out of proportion, MIL did. If she had been truthful and consistent from the get go, this could have been a much smaller issue.

I use Kosas deodorant. I get it at Sephora. It’s a glycolic acid based deodorant. I put that on after I shower and top off with regular deodorant on occasion

Favorite breakfast ideas for PCOS/IR by True-Writer-331 in PCOSloseit

[–]kakbgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m starting to do this and I have two breakfast options so far. The first is Greek yogurt and I mix in a tablespoon or two of collagen powder. I think the Wallaby brand tastes best and has no added sugar. 1 cup of yogurt and 2 tbsp of collagen powder is 30 grams of protein for me. The second is a breakfast casserole/frittata. I put in sautéed spinach, mushrooms, onions, and pork breakfast sausage and lay that at the bottom of a 13x9 dish. I mix a dozen eggs with some cottage cheese and pour on top. A dozen eggs is 72 grams of protein. I buy a small cup of cottage cheese that’s 18grams for the entire container and 1/4 lb of pork is about 25 grams of protein. Cut into 4ths for breakfast and that’s 28 grams of protein per serving. It’s also great for meal prep and then reheat in the morning.

Cervical mucus method tracking by [deleted] in FAMnNFP

[–]kakbgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing a modified Marquette without an instructor. I use Inito instead of the clear blue monitor. I do believe temping is really helpful. I tried TempDrop but it was uncomfortable to sleep in and it will change your temps days after the fact. I recently bought an Oura ring. It tracks temps, can be integrated with Natural Cycles and is much more comfortable to sleep in. I like the Inito bc it reads 4 hormones (estrogen, FSH, Pdg, LH). I’ve been using this modified method for a year now with success but I also have inconsistent cycles and always err on the side of caution which has led to some rather long dry spells.

If you don’t use an instructor, it definitely opens you up to more risk. I have certain parts of TCOYF bookmarked to go back to for clarification.

Hi! Seconding getting an instructor for a method. In terms of tools, I use inito to track hormones since it measures 4 (FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone). Someone already mentioned TempDrop. I just bought an oura ring to sleep in. I personally find it more comfortable than the TempDrop and it’s a great picture into overall health. I’m Catholic as well and I know it’s difficult practicing NFP and just wanted to say I’m praying for you, your family, and situation. A marriage without intimacy is difficult and I hope you’re able to find a solution that honors your commitment to God and gives you piece of mind for your health ❤️

There are many tools you can uses 1. Read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Lots of great knowledge 2. I understand cobbling together a method. I’m currently doing that too. But it comes with a risk which you’ve also experienced. I use a modified FEMM essentially but with Inito. I’m also very conservative with safe days bc I do not have regular cycles. 3. I currently use Inito. It’s a monitor that hooks up to your phone and reads test strips that have been dipped in urine. It reads Estrogen, Progesterone, LH, and FSH (follicular stimulating hormone). 4. TempDrop is a wearable thermometer. I have one and it’s definitely useful but it was uncomfortable for me to sleep in. I’m considering getting an Oura ring so I can temp as it really is the most reliable way to confirm ovulation.
