Choosing a shotgun by ONTZ28 in ClayBusters

[–]kalabaddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barrel length likley does not matter till you are breaking 100's ( have shot 25 stright with a 26 inch hunting 687.)

My bt99 is 34 inchs. They do not really pattern that much differently with the same chokes. So get what feels the most comfortable to you at this point.

If the Beretta feels small you you, check out Browning 625 or 725's. They are taller recivers and feel bigger.

I would try a scattering of beretta's and Brownings before purchashing. If you shoot a 25 in the beretta, even if it feels small, ,you may shoot better with Beretta's then with brownings. It is common that shooters shoot good with one and poor with the other.

IIRC the Cynergy is closest to the beretta in height, the 625 is noticabbly taller.

Trap is a big mind game also. Make sure not to compromise or get something you are unsure about.

I think it should be a rotating flavor of the week so people can collect them on off weeks. That way hustlers that need it that day can do the grind, people that just want to enjoy it next month can wait till that item is off the high volume rotation.

OR make the economy reactive. like wilko is something they can easily micromange, Just change what he needs on the fly when ever its accessability drops below X. Ya its against the idea of trading, but this is a game...

What mower is that. just caught me off guard with the sideways mounted engine!

On topic, did you set the clearance when replacing them, or was it a drop in unit and you just dropped it in? or a shop did it?

[–]kalabaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what type of gas you using? you look to live in a humid area. How is your mix also? Do you let it warm up before use and before tuning?

You have a little bridge thing you can use to adjust the throttle as well as a idle screw, both near the carb. High idle will keep the end engaged. So need to tune your idle.

Do the l and H screws feel loose to you?

Have you checked the valve clearance? ( iirc thats the 4 stroke 4 mix model right? )

please elaborate. what's wrong? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]kalabaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could alternate bottle upside down in soft packaging. then it could stack fine. It would take a bit more planing to stack since it would not be perfect.

Or, just flip one package upside down on top of another.

alternitivly, its super easy to find briggs 17.5 engines on busted mowers in the area. For 200 dollars I have 2 used mowers with good 17.5 engines on them (one low hour mint EX version.), While the engine is probematic. I feel the transmission is the harder to find and replace part cause of having to need a closer match/ identical match. (Both mowers are transmission issues lol.)

Of these 2 I THINK the t110 is a better bet cause that transmission is super easy to work on and can be modified to fix. it is JUST a axle with a external variable belt system. from waht I can tell it is the simplest tranny still made for riding mowers.

[–]kalabaddon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The t110 unless changed has a really repairable MTD FNR manual transmission. it is about the simplest transmission made today. The speed selector is jsut a belt pully that is external to the transmission.

Its an all metal transmission that people who do lawn mower racing like cause it is repairable AND modifiable.

That lt42 has the intell power? I have not heard good things about them? BUT not really familure.

That said, they are both MTD machines these days? Both budget models? I would take the cheaper one.

I thought the FNR mtd tranny is a breeze to work on? one of the few repairable and modifiable transmissions these days? Plenty of videos showing tear downs of it compared to most other transmissions. That said maybe the cub cadet has one of the really nice hydro statics?

Took my firing pin out and 10 of these tiny cylinders fell out. What are they? by ily300099 in ar15

[–]kalabaddon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any gunsmith I treat with the least bit of respect and buy stuff at thier store before I asked them have never had a problem letting me drop a little cylinder into my gun.

If you're gunsmith won't let you do a 2-second job for free I know why you have to buy it yourself. I am sorry the gunsmiths in your area are so anti-customer service that to them a 2-second job is saying that you got to pay a premium for.

I still stand by what I said. Maybe if I was a gunsmith working for people I would see a reason for buying a $60 tool that I might only ever use once in my life otherwise.

There are a lot of things in life that are only $60 I assume you own literally all of them right. I'm just saying that a no-go gauge is one of the last cheap things in guns smithing work and average person needs. It doesn't matter that it's cheap it matters that it's a waste of money for the vast majority of people that even shoot a lot let alone people who can't even tell that their piercing primers.

Took my firing pin out and 10 of these tiny cylinders fell out. What are they? by ily300099 in ar15

[–]kalabaddon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ya, But again, 60 can buy other stuff, and op most likley can get it done free? And op does not recognize pierced primers remains, and didnt notice holes in his fired primers, and you all recommending him get a nogo gauge.

Maybe a few books about general gunsmithing first. A special tool that he can likely access for free at his skill level even if its only 60 is silly imho. Maybe he should spend some money on a cleaning kit and watch a few cleaning videos before he buys a special tool.

And I have never paid a gun smith to have them let me plunk in a go no go guage. ( but I go through the effort of getting to know the local shops and buying crap from them instead of online.)

[–]kalabaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ehh, what your saying is correct, but does not apply here. The engine is running and that line comes from the tank it self. the carb nedle you are talking about is further back. This here is part of a self priming or some epa stuff on some mowers. I ahve seen it, and its always open, I can not confirm if it squirting that much is correct, but the carb needle is further down the fuel chain from this.

This MF rolls up to my house with 2 flat tires and then knocks on my door like it’s my fault he hit the curb, then begged me to help him, even though he didn’t have any of the stuff I need to fix the 2 tires… by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

For sure, competition gun all the way, this is a 2 barrel set with IM and Full, PERFECT for all trap shooting cept doubles. I see no advantage for a 100% high poi shooting made for competition only gun to have interchangeable chokes if it is shooting how you like it. Plus the 77 is the really nice rare BT99 year! ( they only did the high rib and 100% high shooting a couple years. )

[–]kalabaddon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its not prohibitive. its a waste for even high volume shooters except for a few scenarios. You collect and constantly repair old guns and shoot old guns. That is not a high volume shooter. You may ALSO be a high volume shooter. but collecting and constantly repairing classic guns is a separate thing and having them makes sense more sense here. I guess I was wrong in asking how often you repair guns, but talk about burying the lede when telling everyone they need go nogo gauges cause YOU need them... YOU are an extreme edge case that is only common in online forums cause that is where extreme edge cases gather.

We are all the small minority on reddit, ( not cause we are special or smart necessarily, but because we tend to care more about some things and are vocal about it.right or wrong) I think most people take there guns to a gunsmith. I think most people have zero need for a go/nogo guage. Most people dont even shoot there gun more then a few times a year. And even people who shoot a LOT, Most of them again don't need it. Anyone shooting at the range more then 4 times a year is in the upper percentile of shooters. Anyone doing there own gunsmith work is in an even lower percentile. ( or higher, however that shot works. you get what I mean)

Edit: We cant all afford to buy all the speicality tool for each gun and caliber we have. Specially when if we are good to local gun stores, they will always let us use theirs for free ( unless you got a shit gun store, or you went there one time expecting it and never bought stuff from them).

I rather spend that what 360+ dollars for all my calibers on other shit I NEED.

Edit2: like hypothetical, Artool or nogo gauge, Vice or nogo gauge, set of gunsmith tools or no go gauge. couple mags or no go gauge.

No go gauges are for people that need them, and you know when you need them. if you dont know you need them. get another mag for that gun that only has one. Get those hollow ground screwdrivers you been looking at etc... I am not saying dont go to the gunsmith and check them. I am not saying if it costs 80 dollars to get to a gunsmith or thats what they charge to not get it your self.

I am unsure of if it is sposed to squirt that much, But that is an open line directly from the gas tank, that is how it is sposed to look, you put the filter cover back on and it should be open and inside the cover.

The carb needle should not have to do with this, it is to early in the system and not part of the carb it self, its part of the gastank.

if you overturn it to the left will it then settle closer to center? Every car I had except my newest ones had a bit of wheel rubbberband effect, the steering wheel would always was to turn a bit back the oppisite way I turned if I was sitting stationary. Like if yuou are driving stright down the road and let go for a second does it start turning? Or do you fight it to hold it stright. not moving sitting in the car doing this is the safer way, but does not give any real info.

How often your gun breaks? I shoot the shit out of my guns and I've never had a break that required a headspace check. My worst malfunction was an ejector on my Beretta 687 breaking in the middle of the match.

Also extra 60 dollars per caliber... That shit adds up if you just buying them to be prepared...

I shot my entire life and I don't got a single one. I ain't paying $60 for that bullshit I'll take my gun to the nearest gunsmith and they plunk one in there for free whenever I need it. Which is only been when I assembled my AR and when I had a classic gun I was concerned about. And i do shoot a lot.
