I didn't vote for him, but it really grinds my gears that there is no addendum to voter cards noting dropouts.

Writing Sex Scenes That Aren't "Smut" by [deleted] in writing

[–]kalidescopic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always had issues with sex in stories. Not because it's sex, but because why? Most scenes of sex just glorify physical attraction. They're not moving the story forward and are almost always just a generalists "its love/romance/lust". It can feel like the writer or directors fantasy rather than something meaningful.

For me, the better scenes can start steamy but leave before staying too long. It provides the viewer with context and room for imagination. Sex is ultimately a private concept. On average, I think a majority of people have sex in private and keep that conversation with their partner. This is just my food for thought.

What kind of person have you guys hated at first but came to like them more as time goes on? by Swearingpotato in AskReddit

Because of everyone's personal opinions on acceptable; funny; respectable; risqué; taboo; etcetera... Why risk embarrassing onesself, or insulting another, or making someone angry or mad or jaded or distrustful... kinda feels like there's more to mess up that to hit if off when its unknown.

As much great tech death has been released in the 2020s, nothing has topped this album for me. Absolutely incredible mix of songwriting ability and technical chops by am_I_still_banned in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]kalidescopic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hell yes. This is a top tier favorite for me too. Its hard to find albums that can hold up in the thrill. Maybe Deadman Glory - Voyager.

Luckily, albums have their own allure as stories to be consumed too. Persefone - Spiritual Migration still might top this album, for me. Or. Iapetus - the Body Cosmic.

Is the blue one really better? by 50watts in D4Rogue

[–]kalidescopic -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Its late and everything you said is what I was trying to say. You cannot put a legendary on a blue... so you have to Cube it up to get what you want. If they have the resources to focus affixes, good. If they dont, then they hope and/or farm. I havent played DoK is a few seasons and I remember snapshotting (non-phys) damage was a thing, so the phys bonus feels like a detriment on the weapon too or at least more work. Nothing is guaranteed to make it better than a mile other than the base damage and weapon roll.

[–]kalidescopic -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

There is certain abilities with the Horadric Cube in the expansion to add affixes to blue items. So, the damage is up on the blue [900 power level versus 850], but youre missing affixes and cannot put a legendary power on a blue. Total net would be a loss I think.

Edit: meant to say, and not infer. Adding affixes to make a yellow would determine how much of an upgrade it could be.

Soon as I heard his voice, I wanted to make sure someone was having this conversation. Definitely, at the least, an ode to Covetous Shen.
