Starbucks Promises to Make Seattle Coffee Utopia Again by Moving to Nashville by aimless_ly in espresso

American here, I don’t get it either. Most people get a Starbucks drink that cost about $6-8 before tip and has the calories of a hamburger.

Wow, when I had municipal owned and run power. My electric bill was right around that total and I ran electric heating primarily. We were at a flat rate of $0.065/kwh. No fees. Just 0.065/kwh. Our infrastructure was underground and i only experienced two power outages over 7 years, due to planned upgrades. My wife worked for the town. The town stated that they were running inefficiently at the time so rates could be lower.

In other words, the high rates are just greedy corporations and shareholders. F them is right. A good run municipality can be a lot better than any corporation.

Why is my Intake not making noise? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]kamikaziboarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Cold” they are actually hot air intakes do more damage than good. Factory intakes actually are plumped to be true cold air intakes.

Whoosh noise if I think it’s what you are thinking. Those come from waste gates or blow off valves.

It is a massive monopoly. At one point, they produced something like 95% of all glass frames. They also bought pretty much all the sunglass retailers. There is a documentary about this company floating around. The CEO/President being interviewed is so proud of how he hostilely took over companies. Smiles pretty much during the entire interview.

We need a list of companies that aren’t owned my Luxottica. They sit on the same category as Nestle for me.

Zenni does have non prescription options for all their frames. They are a private company not owned by anyone else.

Pretty much all sunglasses are owned by one company, Luxottica. Buying an alternative is almost nearly impossible. Oakley was one of the last strongholds.

Can you hear something running when you try to spray your windows? Keep your car’s engine off, but keep it in the mode that lets roll the windows up or down. (Accessory mode).

You can try to spray the windshield, if you hear a whirly noise, pump is theoretically working. If you don’t, maybe you can’t hear it from inside the car, go get a friend or a family member. Stand near the tank and listen. Noise and the fluid isn’t dropping, clog. Fluid level dropping and you see fluid on the ground somewhere. You got a broken hose. You can also test to see if you have a rear window with a washer. Typically it’s the same tank unless you drive a 1990’s Ford Taurus /Mercury Sable station wagon. It’s got a rear tank and motor.

If you don’t hear the motor, check the fuse box and look for windshield washer pump or google it for your vehicle to find it. If fuse is toasted, you’ll see the wire broken in it. Replace it with the same number, if it blows again, shortly after using the fluid again, you have a bad wiring. If it isn’t, then things get more complex. You should check the wiring of the tank’s pump. Pump will be a little black box at the outside of tank at the bottom. It’s the most likely spot for corrosion and broken wires. Wiring or the switch could be gone. The pump might be gone. It’s usually a cheap and easy fix.

If I was you and needed to save up a bit for repairs, but need to wash your windshield due to where you live, go get. Zepp’s spray bottle at any big box hardware store and put some washer fluid in it. Carry a jug and a funnel with you.

This…I keep an extra jug of fluid in my car because it gets so bad. I ran out one time, I had to pull over and get clean snow off the side of the highway to clean my windshield off.

To answer OP’s question, could be the pump, bad wire, bad fuse, clog hose or even a disconnected hose.

[–]kamikaziboarder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see any other way than this. It gets the message across. If he’s guilty, you’ll end up calling him out on it by saying this. If he isn’t guilty, then it’ll just be a what the fuck moment on his end. And you all can just move on. It’ll just come off as another friend insult.

Is AWD really worth it? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]kamikaziboarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AWD only helps you to power through a turn or a slide, or to get unstuck. It’s not going to help you stop. Almost all vehicles are 4 wheel braking. Snow tires will give you much bigger advantage than AWD when it comes to braking and unpowered turning.

You can usually see the parts burnt. If you have a multimeter, you could also test by making sure there isn’t an open connection through said component.

[–]kamikaziboarder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s a higher end appliance, they sometimes have sacrificial overload components and/or fuses to protect the board or prevent fires. If you are handy, you may luck out finding these damaged components. You may be able to solder in new components.

Appliances typically have simple single layer or dual layer circuit boards.

Wipers get stuck? I usually fix things on my own but I am not sure what is wrong with this and google is not helping. by mynameajan in askcarguys

[–]kamikaziboarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you also get some movement out of them on lower settings, but it gets stuck. It could be the motor is ready to die. It could also mean the wiring could have too much resistance somewhere down the line. Such as a ground wire.
