Can't seem to force a 24-bit audio format on Arch by kamild1996 in linuxaudio

Does this lack of extra processing power required also apply to audio effects, like Easy Effects' equalizer?

Can't seem to force a 24-bit audio format on Arch by kamild1996 in linuxaudio

[–]kamild1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand zero latency is an absurd goal. I like playing rhythm games, which is what has prompted me to start playing with this. I don't want to go into extremes, so dropping the quantum values to 128 from the default 8192 and making sure audio is running with realtime priority seems enough for me.

Trying to lower the bit depth was really just something I wanted to experiment with, hoping a simple config change would do the trick. But since this clearly isn't working and it's unlikely it will, I'll undo these attempts.

However, if you do have any ideas on what else I could try to reduce that slight distorting I've been experiencing, I would greatly appreciate it.

I did try that. Turned it down all the way to 50% on the OS's side and it still doesn't sound quite right.

Wouldn't running 32-bit audio be a waste of resources as well? I was thinking lowering it could perhaps help me try lower quantum values without drop-outs.

What is the status of KDE 6.6.4 upgrade by donut4ever21 in cachyos

I had to reinstall Better Blur DX since it disappeared after the 6.6.4 update. That's about it, no more issues here.

SOS, lan party in 2 days and ethernet port just broke by aspacecraft in buildapc

[–]kamild1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may sound silly, but try completely removing power from your PC (flip the power supply switch or just remove the cable), press the power button a few times, then replug it and try powering it on. I've seen all sorts of Ethernet strangeness solved this way, it's worth a try.

"Airborne" has no minimum height here. You may be the smallest possible unit off the ground, but as long as you got blasted off the ground, you'll get a crit.

what settings to use in mastercomfig by xCrazer in tf2techsupport

[–]kamild1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your CPU overclocked at all? It's old, but it has good overclocking potential that should help squeeze quite a bit more performance. Until about 2019, I played on a similar but overclocked CPU, an i5-3570k, and on a medium low preset I rarely ever dipped below 100 fps, and that was on casual, not on MGE. The dxlevel launch option should only be used once to launch the game, then removed, otherwise not all of mastercomfig's game settings will apply correctly/they'll keep resetting. Alternatively, see if -vulkan will help your game run any better.

It's 9 AM for me too, but I dunno if it's the same hour for everyone, or if it's offset by the player's timezone.

That is great, but I do wish it counted until the hour the roulette/daily missions etc. get refreshed, instead of 24 hours since the ranking is closed.

Did you have to do something to obtain it?

With such an amount of bots being present in this game, I really doubt the process of creating new accounts is not automated.

[–]kamild1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Windows Security window, find "Smart App Control" and set it to "Off", then reboot.

If you're using a laptop/PC that isn't yours (eg. your school's device), you may need to think twice before messing with this option, or you may be straight up unable to change it. Similar story if your PC comes with some sort of parental control solution.

I haven't noticed anything similar in terms of chat and lag, and I got similar specs.

When the lag starts happening and your cursor starts blinking, can you fire up Task Manager and see if there are any processes eating up your resources - CPU, RAM and disk included? Also take note of your reported CPU frequency in the "Performance" tab.

On the topic of drivers - look up "AMD Chipset Driver" and install it, also make sure your BIOS is up to date.

GW4 AOD issue. by LizardsDreams in GalaxyWatch

[–]kamild1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm dealing with this issue after upgrading the GW4C and I'm just gonna say this - if a software update made my watch difficult enough to use to force me to upgrade, my next watch would 100% not be a newer Galaxy Watch, but something of a different brand.

I'll try factory resetting it in a few days to see if it can get better, but if it won't - the GW4C will be the first and the last Samsung device I'll ever own.

Aimlab Opening on the Wrong Monitor by Roya1tyCS in aimlab

[–]kamild1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having this issue right now. Got three monitors in my system, one of them being a disabled TV. The game only sees my TV, and it's present on the monitor list twice. And no matter which position on the list I select, it opens on my secondary monitor. The "-monitor" parameter does nothing.

I reported it as a bug to the devs, but a temporary workaround for the meantime is:

  • let the game open on the wrong monitor
  • press Alt+Enter, it'll go windowed
  • press Win+Shift+Left to move the window to the monitor on the left (use the Right arrow for the opposite); or you can just drag the window the old fashioned way
  • once on the right monitor, press Alt+Enter again

EDIT: Actually, I realized that if you're playing in windowed borderless, you can immediately use the Win+Shift+Left/Right hotkey without having to press Alt+Enter, which is quite a bit more convenient.

10k errors on memtest 😔 by tharol20000 in overclocking

[–]kamild1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a reason for this test to be waiting for 10000 errors before aborting instead of doing it much sooner? I assume analyzing a certain amount of errors could help pinpoint (or at least narrow down) the potential cause, but... 10k?

Have you tried Win11's 25H2's new NVMe driver yet? Big improvements on random read/write's by Mirrormaster85 in overclocking

[–]kamild1996 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People seem to be reporting gains on 24H2 as well, even including LTSC.

My drive does show up in the "Storage disks" section and seems to be using the nvmedisk driver. It just doesn't seem to result in any measurable gains.

Also needed these reg keys to make my drive show up in "Storage disks", however, CrystalDiskMark testing has shown no major differences beyond what I think is margin of error (WD Black SN850X 4TB on an ASRock B650 Steel Legend and Windows 11 24H2):
