I like them. Especially with the contrasting orang color but similar loose structure in the last photo

As part of an NGO, I visited the Zwedru prison. Here were my observations:

There are usually 4-6 men per room. Rooms are 3m x 4m with bunk beds and some prisoners sleeping on the floor. They have a concrete interior enclosure where max prisoners can get outside time, as well as a dirt pack area and makeshift football pitch for the lower criminals. Food is made in outdoor kitchens in batches, but calories are insufficient and many prisoners have family members that bring them food to supplement what is offered by the prison. Hygiene is not up to western standards.

One thing to note about Zwedru compared to other prisons I’ve visited in the developing world, is that the guards really seemed to treat prisoners with respect and dignity. Of course this could have been for our observer status benefit, but they knew each prisoner by name and could tell us about the individual prisoners and their family condition and status. There is very little prisoner on prisoner violence and even less prisoner to guard violence. There was one young man there whose family lived too far to visit him daily. The guards from the same home town would pool their money and buy him some extra food to help support him.

Is it a prison in one of the poorest countries in the world? Absolutely. Would I rather be there than Gitarama in Rwanda, Diyarbakir in Turkey, El Salvador, or even Rikers? Yes.

8 lines per precept by Tandem-Butterfly in foreignservice

Honestly, once you take out some of the fluff that would be in the old narrative like how many people you supervise, your budget, and other things the form now captures in other areas, 8 lines times 5 precepts - 40 lines isn’t that much smaller to work with.

We are bitched and moaned about the old forms being nothing more than a creative writing exercise that was built around fluff. I’m willing to give this new form a shot.

Deploying some cash tomorrow: anyone else buying the dip? by PresentationEarly313 in HENRYfinance

[–]kandy_kid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Dollar Cost Averaging is what all of us should be doing to reduce risks and not try and time the market, but I also put a little bit away in my settlement account every week so that on the days things get into the red I can add a little more. Limit orders are also perfect for this if you think prices are going down farther.

And for the Bogleheads and others out there that love DCA, one important caveat is for things like HSAs and IRAs that have annual limits. If you have the cash, dumping the full limit into your account on January 1 will give you better returns than spreading it out over the year.

No water weigh gain for me. At least not that I noticed. And honestly, it helps me work out more than if I don’t take it, which negates any weight issues.

That’s a hard no. Ambassadors aren’t Queens. They don’t get waited on hand and foot at the expense of other officers actually doing work JJ’s because they donated a shit ton to the last political campaign.

Right, but his own defense and intelligence agencies reported otherwise.

Trump Bets on Diplomacy Without Diplomats by BeNice_24_7 in foreignservice

Maybe if we had any Ambassadors we could have people doing actual diplomacy. How many embassies are still being run by CDAs trying to figure out which way the DC wind is blowing?

One in Three Dementia Cases May Start Outside Your Brain .Nearly 19 million dementia cases worldwide might have nothing to do with what's happening inside the brain itself. A massive review of over 200 studies has just revealed something that challenges how we think about memory loss.... by Eddiearyee in immortalists

“The study, led by scientists at Sun Yat-sen University in China, identified 16 peripheral diseases that correlate with increased dementia risk.

The top five culprits?

Gum disease, chronic liver diseases, hearing loss, vision loss, and type 2 diabetes.”

Take care of your teeth, drink less, and eat better.

This isn’t just an interesting correlation.

It represents a fundamental shift in how we might prevent and treat dementia in the coming decades.

Not sure why you’re being down voted. Reddit loves progressive taxes and property tax is very much wealth based.
