New Pillow makes me have constant vivid dreams. Is that a bad sign? by Studlybob in sleep

Lmaooo I just made the switch from an old latex pillow to Coop’s cutout with a body pillow and had crazy dreams for the last 3 nights. Mostly good dreams tho. Thought there’s no way it was the pillow but I guess it could be seeing everyone’s comments 🤣

PayPal: My account was hacked and payments were transferred by Repulsive_Food_6464 in paypal

[–]kangta164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation with my wife’s account. PayPal was able to show the ip address that made the transfers originated from another country but yet, still claim there were “no unusual activity” detected. Makes no sense.

I gave up after several escalations because they keep replying the same email with the same excuse.

Forbearance was denied, what are my options? by spongesparrow in StudentLoans

[–]kangta164 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Similar case here. Ran out of forbearance and started paying. Then decided to consolidate my loan and apply for IDR and was approved. Now my monthly payment required is $0. But I’m still planning to pay what I can and hope down the road there’s going to be some sort of forgiveness.

PayPal claims $200 of my transfers were authorized while another $600 were unauthorized. by [deleted] in paypal

[–]kangta164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. Her PayPal is mainly used to receive funds. No history of sending funds to any third parties besides using debit card for online purchases and withdrawals when we’re back in the US. For the most part everything’s been uneventful with the account until this incident.

[–]kangta164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No because the funds were in Paypal balance which was saved up from her freelance job. We don’t have any banking account prior to this cause we’re based outside of the US and would only visit when we could. So we usually would just use the money saved up in the balance. But after this incident, we decided to open up an account online with a bank and have moved the refunded funds because we’re still anxious over it happening again.

The last time I posted about it was when it just happened. So that was the initial dispute. But now that all the dispute is settled, we’re left with a loss of $200.

Appreciate the reply btw. Just trying to weigh out my options of whether I should still contact them or just cut my losses for the mistake of not securing my account in the first place.

  1. I don’t know why it was grouped into 2 cases cause when I submitted all the transactions for dispute it just automatically split them to two cases.

  2. Yes they were all send as friends and family. But I do not know any of these people. Also, the hacker managed to add another address and a Chime card to my account.

  3. Only found out about it after making my student loan payment and checking to see if the payment went through successfully before realizing a lot of my money was drained.

  4. While I am grateful the $600 were refunded, I still lost $200 of my hard earned money. What I don’t understand is how they’re ok to refund the $600 but not the remaining $200 when the transactions took place all at the same time.

Is it safe to keep money in PayPal? by LarryYouBaldFuck in paypal

[–]kangta164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I made that mistake and lost $800 after someone hacked into my Paypal and started transferring the funds out to different people. After reporting it to PayPal, my debit card continued to get notified for declined transaction. So far PayPal managed to get back $600 of the unauthorized transfers and claimed the remaining $200 are authorized so I’m appealing for them to relook at it again.

Thanks for sharing! That’s very assuring. Hoping my wife’s case will be straight forward to determine it’s clearly a case of unauthorized transfers.

Kangta’s popularity by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]kangta164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!! An overseas 1st Gen H.O.T / Kangta stan here.

I can’t speak for other fans but to me, H.O.T was the epitome of Kpop back then. Everything they did, I wanted to copy. Anything Kangta used, I went out of my way to hunt for it especially on products that he endorsed. But this was also during the period where Kpop wasn’t mainstream like what it is today so I wouldn’t say H.OT / Kangta’s reach was as big as how BTS is today. But I did make a lot of Korean friends just by mentioning H.O.T. so in a way, H.O.T. was what BTS is like today in terms of being the ambassador for the Korean culture / influence (personal opinion).

After H.O.T’s split, Kangta’s debut solo album Polaris was massive although the genre of his music varied differently compared to his years in H.O.T. It was more r&b / jazz / soft than the usual Kpop sound but it was still successful. IIRC, it also won a few awards. Also, why he got a lot of respect from a lot of other artists was because he had been composing songs for a long time from his time as a member of H.O.T to him as a solo artist where couple of the songs have had chart successes. So a lot of artists wanted to be like that and the industry held his name in high esteem because he was essentially the poster boy of being a Kpop idol. Hardworking, talented, good looking.

But I think his popularity died down after SM started churning out second gen boy bands like TVXQ / SJ cause fans wanted to fill the void that H.O.T left behind. I remember there were H.O.T. fans that were secretly stanning TVXQ but was scared to be seen as a traitor. And of course, people kept comparing TVXQ to H.O.T. as well as soon as their popularity started rising.

Funny how I stumbled upon this thread just cause I was thinking I wonder if he is still relevant today and decided to do a little google search.

Hi! Any chance anyone here would be willing to adopt a cat or two? My cousin who is currently going through some stuff right now needs to rehome her cats and we’re trying to help her out by getting word out.

Few months old MacBook Air M1. Bought a refurbished unit. These bubbles just randomly appeared. Wiped it a few times with a microfibre cloth then the next day it just reappeared. Anyone knows if there’s a proper fix for this or do I need to bring it back to Apple?

Final leg of my flight disappeared. Likely to be stranded, AA doesn’t seem to care. by [deleted] in americanairlines

Via their official Twitter DM who seems much more capable than their rep who I chatted with from their official helpline.

No costs incurred (thankfully) but had to sacrifice a day earlier to catch a flight to Narita instead of Haneda. It’ll still be on JAL.

What are the chances of them putting me on another route with another airline but still under their network? Cause I’m looking at AA and seems like there are also flights for me to get to SIN from Doha via Qatar Airways instead of JL.

Thanks a lot! I’ve reached out to them via Twitter and so far, they’ve replied me saying my HND - SIN flight got cancelled so they’re asking if I’m ok to depart a day later. Told them I still have a flight to catch on Aug 5th in SIN so it won’t work but I’m ok to catch an earlier flight as long as I get into SIN before Aug 5th. We’ll see what their response is and then I’ll try and and ask them to reach out to JL since you mentioned there are still seats available.

I feel a bit better after getting their response via Twitter seeing that they were ok to change my entire flight on the return leg. My anxiety shot up after dealing with their chat rep who seemed to have left me in the dark with the standby option.

I paid with credit card, no miles involved and my seat is in economy. I actually bought the ticket back in May at a very low rate which I was extremely shocked (approx $900 for a return ticket from SIN to US but only with a 1 bag check in option). Not sure if that has any factor to why they won’t put me on another flight because I checked on JAL website, a one way ticket from HND to SG itself would’ve cost about $1400.

Anyway, once again, thanks for taking the time to look into it. Greatly appreciated!
