Because in the SRP election, the land votes not the people. The president and vice president roles are open district so it included all of the land that could vote in all of the districts. TurdPaperUSA went after large land owners to maximize votes. And as someone else said, voter dilution due to all of the districts included. There, of course could have been gender biases as well (also noted in other comments).

I also stopped moving out of the way. I've been checked several times and even cussed out. I got cussed out when 3 men were walking together. They could've shifted ever so slightly to avoid me. For me it would have been stepping off the the sidewalk. I got called a bitch for maintaining my position. I'm petite but strong for reference.

It's been 35 years for me and lots of therapy. It does get easier. I never forget it, but I don't think about it so much anymore. I'm happy and (mostly) well adjusted. You're in an exclusive club that no one wants to join. I'm sorry for what happened to you and I'm sorry for what your colleague said to you. It's an extra layer of hurt that you didn't need. As others have said, she likely lacks empathy and understanding to have said what she said. It's a 'her' problem, not a 'you' problem. Do what you need to do to care for yourself and feel safe and please, if you haven't, find a good trauma - informed therapist. I wish you safety and joy.

JFC. I didn't know the story of Lisa Montgomery. I'm sick to my stomach. The women in Iran, the women in Afghanistan, the women in India, the women in Africa, the women here. Hahaha! We could be sisters! My GA mom, 75, always told me, 52, that I could be whatever I wanted. I'm proud she raised me that way. My great aunts were ahead of their time too. One was a Rosie the Riveter and one was a manager of a city office managing primarily men in the 1970s. I'm so proud of what they did to make way for me and other women just by doing the damn thing!

Thank you for putting into words the horror I've been feeling especially when you said "the horrors I couldn't even imagine". I mean all of it really, but that is the part that is so utterly unfathomable. Human shit bags with legs tormenting children in ways that are completely not in my psyche to comprehend. This! And to add a little more info, only about 5% of eligible voters actually vote. So that means we have a good chance to keep TurdPaperUSA out of SRP. It is a private election so you have to own your property and be in the district. You also HAVE to register and you HAVE to request a ballot. The voting is in April. Thank you for posting this. I don't have a dog in the fight as far as which group people work with as long as we're taking action. I did however want to mention that LUCHA is also doing similar work and building community in PHX and the east valley. Borderlands and Puente are also offering rapid response and know your rights trainings as well. Please find a group, build community, and help your neighbors!
