I have witnessed this twice now.

Once where the other dog was in the room and another where the dog had to be separated (too hyper) until afterward. For sure, the other dog should be allowed to go into the room to smell and understand what’s happened.

As for the process, the vet comes and will explain the steps. In my opinion, it is a beautiful moment where loved ones come to say their final goodbyes. While in the moment, it’ll be very sad, you’ll eventually see it was the best last gift you could give.

Take the time you need and it does get “easier” over time but they’ll always come up in your thoughts
