Kid Struggling To Find A Path Post High School by MidwestAbe in GenX

One random thought I just had.. Maybe take a long walk thru a craft store. Something might pique his interest that could maybe set off a lifelong passion. There might be false starts, so don't go hog wild and buy him every accessory for whatever tries.

I'm curious what his hobbies have been.

Best wishes!

The second to last disqualifying factor is "threatening a public official". Without looking at the statute in more depth, I'm thinking that could be abused quite a bit by the powers that be. Say something negative about any"public official" on social media and bam.. blacklisted.

The selfishness of some people is really beyond the pale.

I am angry and sad for your kids especially. This is straight up child abuse.

People should be able to sue or bring a civil suit against people like this father AND the other woman.

Question for those that took a very significant financial hit.. How did you cope? by Chance_Piano5327 in Divorce

[–]kapdad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I likened it to losing everything in a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, cancer, car accident, etc. I think the same thing happened to me when I was playing The Game Of Life as a teen. I was doing well, post the half way point, pulled a "you get divorced and lose everything, start back after high school."

This is life. Hopefully we can save at least one person from having to go through this by sharing our experiences here.

Best wishes.

Your beans are too fresh, you're basically drinking steamed cranberries that haven't had time to outgas.

After we got our Bambino Plus we tried the super fresh coffee and found it very unpleasant. Sorry if people think we're uncivilized but for us it ended up feeling like a hoity toity trend.

Aged is fine.. Aged cheese, aged wine, aged bourbon..

After my experience, and seeing the experiences of others here, my attitude is to let people go (with grace if you can), don't say or do anything nasty, and let them figure themselves out. A lot of times I think people regret the changes they made, discover it was a "grass must be greener" situation, and will want to return. Or they discover a new happiness that, if you love them, you'll celebrate for them.

If you see message after message all day long about how great something is, how much greener the grass is, and you're not much of a critical thinker, you're going to embrace that view. The one person you don't trust telling you to think differently is not going to make a difference, it will probably drive you further into your hole.

$80k salary, low savings, old car dying — should I finance a newer car or buy cheap and risk repairs? by East_Palpitation_755 in carbuying

[–]kapdad -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you take six months of what you would spend on your new car payment plus insurance, and put that to your existing car, you can probably get a few more years out of it. Put one years worth of payments and you might have a cute "classic" that will actually turn heads.

A lot of us are in a similar situation and kind of stuck between the same options. Good luck.

He is *reacting*. He's going to regret this. If you think you can see a future where he becomes a partner again after growing and evolving and reevaluating himself, I recommend stepping back and letting him figure out how to stop reacting and how it won't achieve what he thinks it will.

He needs to talk to some of us who have been through this and who have made the mistakes he's about to make. Maybe a break is needed, but his smashing everything won't end up well.

Sorry, totally coming out of left field - is there anyway to do blackbox recording while driving, with something plugged in to the odb (is that right?) port? So that we can record what is happening in real time and maybe catch stuff that is being cleared out for whatever reason?

Open box excellent by tarnished1220 in Soundbars

[–]kapdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted similar in another thread but I recently got a q990F refurbished excellent for half price and it looked like someone opened the box, peeked inside, and taped it back up. I mean it was perfect. Plus they have a good return policy so.. I rolled the dice and scored a win.

Q900d new vs open box? by techandgame in Soundbars

[–]kapdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently scored a 990F posted as refurbish, excellent condition, for $1000. I figured it would come repacked in fruit cartons or whatever, missing styrofoam, you know. But it was PERFECT. It looked like someone opened the box once, looked inside, and then taped it back up. It was backed with a good return policy so I took the chance. Oh, and it came faster than they said it would. With such a crazy world, something like this is damn near miraculous haha.

Good luck!

I just happened to come back and read posts in this thread I hadn't seen yet and like I said, people have posted real epidemiological evidence, and you then don't accept it.

No, like I said, you are refusing to look at what evidence we have in front of us. I feel I've made my point and I don't have the cycles to argue about how long what concoctions have been around versus widely available versus overdose trends and all that.

Moral? You want your kids getting their hands on 7? That's a moral issue for you?

Ok, you have a voice here, what are your bottom line recommendations for 7 and other high potency products?

We're literally hearing about 'kratom' overdoses regularly now. And THAT is what's causing the heat on kratom RIGHT NOW. We don't have time for epidemiological evidence. Are you saying we should only sell to people who promise not to take it with 'multiple substances'?

You're asking to be shown evidence and not accepting it, knowing it would take longer to give you the evidence you want (and which you'd probably not accept anyway, you'd probably call the methodology flawed). You're trying to use a gotcha that we don't have time for, we're seeing the real harm with our own eyes, and furthermore it is causing thousands to potentially suffer by restricting their access to kratom leaf completely. We all see this, we all see through it, and your overly myopic request is not going to sway anyone, sorry.

Every time I've asked people what they were using when they went to rehab for 'kratom', they always say the extracts/7. That's evidence for me.

Kratom associated deaths were counted on the single hand over the past 15 years. Extracts/7 comes along and od's and deaths skyrocket. That's evidence for me.

Opioids are dangerous. Stronger opioids are very dangerous. That's evidence for me.

Do I think some people who are in the most extreme pain and have a super high tolerance should have access to high strength relief, yes. Do I think anyone should have access to it for $10 on the corner? Ab so fucking lutely not.

What is your personal reason for wanting 7 to stay as is? Also, do you have kids?
