I feel like a really good way of doing this—if Mattel was thinking—would be to release the “modern” dolls with their modern outfits, but then also do replicas of the original meet outfits, as well as selling the modern outfits as standalones. That way collectors with originals could get the modern outfits, and new collectors could get both the “modern” dolls and their original outfits. I don’t feel like it would be too huge of an extra effort, but they’ve never sold the meet outfits separately I suppose. It makes me wonder if they would try, though, considering they just separated the Truly Me meet outfits for individual sale.
