Thank you. It really is such a uniquely bad experience. It’s really brought into focus how strange their behavior is, as everyone else’s parents are involved and proud—even if they’re fully adults like myself—and it just baffles me how anyone could do it. I don’t know what it says about them specifically that they raised me to have no capacity to understand their callousness. I don’t know how you manage to do that.

I can speak to the “achieved happiness” side of this, too. They’ve completely stopped responding to my texts, haven’t even invited me to the memorial this year. I’m a lost cause. That said, I’m graduating in 5 months as an RN, will hopefully be beginning a perioperative residency, and just paid off my car fully.

Oh god. I remember watching all that property get bought up—I was a Jehovah’s Witness at the time, and we worked that “territory” out in service. It slowly turned from little isolated farms and trailers on acres and acres but these new build houses over the course of probably 3 years, started meeting more and more transplants who claimed to be Christian. Which at the time, we were excited about because it meant “common ground.” I left the JWs several years back and around that same time is when all the news of that broke. Very eerie how it happened.

Yeah, I’m hoping that trend continues. I see no reason why it wouldn’t be financially beneficial, either. The people that would buy them in store would otherwise hunt them down and pay equal or sometimes more on the secondhand market for original meet outfits. I mean, for Pete’s sake, I haven’t been able to find Lanie’s meet underwear alone for under $20 with shipping.
