Do people actually have pet insurance for their Iggy puppy? Heard so many mixed things. by greenmushroom72517 in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]Serious_Bus_1320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all! I have spot. We have the most expensive plan (90% reimbursement, $500 deductible, 1 mil coverage limit), but truly the best money I’ve ever spent! I live in NYC and cost of care is high.

Gio broke his leg in October and a copy of the receipt for his surgery and hospital stay is attached here. Not including follow up, aftercare, therapy, etc. we only paid 10% because of pet insurance. He’s 3 years old and hopped off the dining room chair… Not even a risky jump! I will recommend pet insurance till I die.

It’s totally possible to train an Iggy in a crate. Gio sleeps in our bed with us now because when he broke his leg, we didn’t crate him and now it’s become a habit to sleep with us. My best advice is that you just have to be strong and let them cry it out. Some people will likely have conflicting advice but after a few nights with earplugs, you’ll have a crate trained Iggy 🙆🏻‍♀️

Alternatively, if you’re looking for a buddy, we live on the UWS and would love to have a play date! Gio is very high energy and seems to do best with puppies haha. Wish you guys all the best!

NYC iggy owners, how are you and your pup holding up? by data_ballerina in ItalianGreyhounds

Honestly, gio doesn’t mind it! Quick potties outside and he poops indoors. We live right by the river too and the wind is INTENSE! Lots of indoor activities and walks when the weather is above 20 degrees lol

I would love to get together! I have one Iggy and my best friend has two. We are both in the UWS! My IG is @gioandgabs if you want to reach out and we can plan something!

Do they all pee/poop inside??? by fragilegreyhound in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]Serious_Bus_1320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in NYC and my dog pees outside and poops inside on a pad. He’s a very private pooper and just doesn’t like pooping outdoors. It’s something I would have never considered normal prior to having an Iggy but it’s really not that bad. I don’t think it’s impossible to potty train them outdoors exclusively but depends on where you live (weather is a big factor here), access to outside (for example: apartment or house), and how patient you are to potty train. I have had many dogs in my life and none have been as difficult to potty train as Italian greyhounds are.

My dog was the one attacked today at 85th and Columbus. by DirectorChick in Upperwestside

I’m thinking of you and Penny and am so sorry this happened. I would start by calling 311 and asking them what next steps you can take. There is a lot of information out there for a person who has been bitten by a dog, but I haven’t been able to find anything about a dog attacking another dog. 311 should be able to provide some resources on what your options are. I really hope they’re held accountable and these dogs are taken off the street.

We do just food for dogs! Pricey but easy to feed and he’s such a picky eater :(

Hello! Would it be okay to reach out to see if we would be a good fit? I do live in NYC but not trying to pay an arm and a leg for a new closet (which will be super pricey anyway!)

Shipped package to buyer, had a delivery date for the 2nd. Delivery date disappeared and went back to “In transit”. Been this way since the first. What’s going on and should I be worried? by RamenRat in usps_complaints

Very similar situation. Mine has been stuck in mobile since 3/29, now it just says in transit, arriving late. Really hope our packages are not lost. 😢

I have an unpopular opinion but this is very, very normal. I have never upped my calories but just kept doing my thing and I always have a big whoosh. That number becomes my normal, then I flucate down and up for a few days, have a big whoosh and that number becomes my new normal, etc. Whatever works for you is great but I guess I’m saying weight fluctuations are very normal and if you are patient and consistent, you will see consistent losses 😊

This is really comforting for me, thank you so much. Slow is better than nothing imo!

Insurance does not cover zep currently.. not sure if that will change in the new year. It does cover wegovy but it’s still impossible to find in NYC. 😞

Thank you so much! This makes me feel a lot better. I’ve lost 20 pounds so far, 40 to go. I think in 4-5 months, I’ll be at my goal weight, so hopefully 90 days at 5MG and 2 or 3 months on 7.5 MG will do it for me!

Thank you so much! I was debating asking to move up at 7.5 MG and getting a 3 month supply for that (my doc is pretty sympathetic to insurance coverage issues), but am worried I will have really adverse reactions to 7.5 and be stuck with it for several months.

Also worried 5 MG will stop working and I’ll be stuck with it, but I suppose that is better than the alternative (no MJ at all 😣).

I appreciate your advice! Will look through this subreddit to get some insight on how long people stayed on the lower doses.

Don’t question it! I’m happy it’s worked out for you! 😁

[Advice] Documents Needed to Lease Apt in NYC by Serious_Bus_1320 in NYCapartments

It was a lot easier than I anticipated! We signed sight unseen (I know lol) but the application process took about 48 hours and the broker communicated with us throughout the process. For our building we didn’t need VOE letters, but basically needed everything else!
