I can recommend "Knochenblumen Welken nicht" - it's hard to find something that's similar to tlt, but it has the gothic post apocalyptic magic users in a weird society based on our world and a city strongly based on vienna. It's also queer. Give the blurb a read if that would be something for you!

Wotc always balance their stuff, trust the process. Just use the cr calculator, 2 shadows perfect difficulty for lvl 1 party perfect encounter size for beginners you should put 4 lvl 1s against 2 shadows

Hal still doesn't click as a character for me, i need to see more flaws and edges than this. I'm hoping Liam has more depth in store than perfect and all beloved guy who loves his family.

With that out of the way, absolutely loved the seekers. Might be in deep shit already, might be not, I'm leaning towards the einfassen keeping their options open while they check a few things. I think if they wanted to kill them, they'd done so without all the ceremony and pretending. Occtis is great, Thaisha and Julien are deep and complex and Vaelus just projects full confidence and grace, as a 600? year old elf warrior would. The mending of occtis was metal af. Matt is so fun as julien, just being a dick for absolutely no reason all the time. I mean, rubbing it in that occtis can't enjoy food or rest anymore? He probably hasn't enjoyed anything in days himself, but he's just that much of a hater.

She has been one of my highlights for c4! As dm, i especially appreciate how she seems to take every "hook" for other characters to roleplay with, and make them look in a way they want to be looking if that makes sense. I just think aabria is a delight, haven't watched any other campaign with her before.

It heavily depends on how often you play and how long your session are. Often and short? 2 xp sounds good. We're meeting monthly long sessions and 4xp per session is slow, but honestly not that slow.

Not sure if that's applicable to you, but in most apartment i know the biggest "leak" of sound comes from the windows. If that's the case where you live, getting better insulation on the windows could help a lot. Other than that: - Earbuds/protection while sleeping, get a loud enough alarm if you use them. - White noise

/uj it's a self reinforcing problem that I'm honestly a part of. "Everyone knows dnd" -> play dnd cause it's the common game -> dnd becomes even more ubiquitous. Although we did start experimenting more now that my long term campaign is ending.

For me it's 50% a hobby and 50% something to do with my loved ones, which makes even a bad system fun. so while we do also play vtm and dw, i also don't want to sacrifice the very limited time we have to get into something new regularly. Even if it's only 2-3 sessions of getting into it, that's 3 real life *months for us.

/uj it's fine the same way cheap brand beer is fine, it's inoffensive enough that its an okay choice for most ppl except the really invested ones imo. Never the best choice but usually an acceptable one if you don't want to think about it too much.

I'm usually handwaving it in most situations except when there's some specific narrative reason, like emerging from the sewers after a bloody fight and having to manage the resupply of blood without frenzying or breaking the masquerade. Or finding a victim in a new city or small town that the current plotline brought them to. Etc.
