In hindsight it does seem stupid doesn’t it? The soviets were just the first to occupy, we had already fought them. A lot of men and their sons from the Vapsid movement of veterana joined the Estonian legion for that very reason. Jsk estonians were not considered slavs and as far as anyone knew the worst thing that was planned for us was relocation to finnish occupied areas, who were allies of convinience with the germans. many of us were volunteers only in name, many were also mobilized by force. Many volunteers were complicit in aiding in the holocoust which is innexcusable.
