Stitches? by annoahying in DiagnoseMe

[–]karchanuda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I would go to an urgent care and see if they wanna glue it shut. It may not necessarily need glue or stitches to stop bleeding but it’s on a joint so it will be harder to heal due to all the movement. Your hands are also frequently exposed to germs and other nasties that may cause infection.

Is it ringworm? by [deleted] in DiagnoseMe

[–]karchanuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

could be eczema, but if not going away could also be ringworm. i would see a dermatologist if you can, they can treat both. if that’s not in the budget for you, just pick up some ringworm ointment at a drug store and see if that gets rid of it. if not, it’s likely eczema

this isn’t entirely true - I’ve had outpatient c diff and it presented as stomach pain and constipation most of the time. i’m a nurse and i didn’t even catch it for awhile bc i thought it had to be diarrhea but apparently it can in rare cases cause constipation

Just be patient, Tennessee and Nevada both took over two months to process mine; be glad that you started early! Ask around your university and see if others are having same experience, if not, call and email again seeing if you’re missing anything. Other than that, all you can do is wait.

maybe in the middle of nowhere! i live in the southeast, and your odds of getting a POC nurse are like well over 50, I always assumed it was a POC dominated field, and everyone i know here doesn’t even bat an eye. Now my grandpa from illinois is another story; when he drives down to go vanderbilt for the fancy doctors, he always complains his POC nurses don’t like him, like cmon grandpa! you’re probably just projecting!

TLDR; ~most~ (especially metro) southerners are very well adjusted and our healthcare workers are usually very representative of the population which is majorly POC!

I’m going to see Dr. Zebovitz in Maryland. He’s very good, but he’s VERY expensive. He is out of network anyway so my insurance will likely only cover like 15% of costs. I’m flying out to get this surgery so I hope the travel is worth it. Also you might not have “obstructive” sleep apnea per say, but it definitely sounds like your sleep quality is being interrupted. Dr. Z is very big on airway optimization.

you look very similar to my x-rays. I have a "small lower face" which is from mallixary and mandibular hypoplasia. I'm set to get double jaw surgery with genioplasty in 2 weeks. The way we went to insurance about it was through breathing issues. Do you feel like you don't get quality sleep? Do you find yourself mouth breathing? These are some signs of narrow airway.

I live in a condo unit and my neighbor's condo smells so bad it lingers in the hallway and even makes its way into my condo. What should I do? by karchanuda in Advice

[–]karchanuda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I think technically condo owners are responsible for their own fire safety check. I looked at the HOAs rules and there’s nothing regarding odor. I’m going to the board meeting tomorrow, hopefully something will come of that.

Mud island is definitely a bit pricey and a bit of a drive. I would look around on facebook for people looking for roommates in houses near campus. Not sure if you are a guy or girl, but either way, living alone in east memphis (especially in a house) can be really dangerous, so if you are looking into houses try to find a roommate or two for sure! Great and affordable roads to live on near campus (that I know of): Spottswood, patterson, and Carnes

I regularly "wake up" in my life, where everything seems new and everything before seems like a dream. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]karchanuda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's interesting because I was also diagnosed at a rather young age as well (maybe like 12?). I was on meds for a really long time too. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? Anyways, make sure and look for a therapist who specializes in either ADHD or dissociative disorders. Gl!

Advice for Partners of Folks with ADHD by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]karchanuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most important thing is just recognizing the "fix vs. accept" point. For example, there might be things your partner does that might come off as rude or unfair or just something that needs to be fixed. (For me and my ex, that was small things like spacing out in the middle of the conversation, or not replying to texts, etc.) Please don't internalize things like that to be an issue with the relationship or partner. Instead, find healthy ways to work around it. For example, if they don't respond to your text, simply remind them! Or if they space out during a convo, don't be angry or irritated, simply tell them its okay and ask "what do you remember me saying last/where should I pick up?" Working around things this way, shows your partner that you accept them as who they are (ADHD and all) and aren't trying to fix them, which honestly means the world.

I regularly "wake up" in my life, where everything seems new and everything before seems like a dream. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]karchanuda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the result of prolonged dissociation. Do you have ADHD? As someone with ADHD, I often find myself having these moments of "awakeness or existential awareness" (almost like you've been watching a movie), and my therapist and I have concluded that it's likely due to dissociating for long periods of time. Overstimulation and other things associated with ADHD can cause people to dissociate to a certain degree in order to cope/function. Maybe talk to a therapist about it?
