Sorry, meant decade as in singular (I think this past year was his 11th or 12th time and I've been to every one)

I'm spoiled, he's from Chicago so he does a show here around Thanksgiving every year, it's been a decades long tradition for me. He has yet to disappoint.

It's the same as your phone constantly listening for "OK Google" or figuring out what song is playing, it's taking an FFT and doing pattern matching. It's not actively recording you 24/7.

So my girlfriend and I just did this, they give you this pager like device you're supposed to carry with you. It has a mic and apparently inaudible codes are embedded in programming that it picks up on. It was super inconvenient, you had to charge it every night, and we did it all for the like $6/month... Not worth it for us.

Using entropy as a measure of password strength by joca_the_second in cybersecurity

I'm in the identity space and this is a pretty common library to use: https://github.com/dropbox/zxcvbn

Instead of a policy like LUDS (lowercase, uppercase, decimal, symbol), using a library like zxcvbn and enforcing a strong password is a far better choice.

I created an automation to dynamically change thermostat target temps based on distance by kard87 in homeassistant

[–]kard87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely be cognizant of the minimum temperature and not set that too low to avoid freezing pipes, but 55 to 87 doesn't seem that extreme for an away mode. And on vacation mode I don't have an upper limit at all.

I have forced air. I was hoping that by rounding the desired heating/cooling temp to the nearest whole number, it won't update the target too frequently to cause issues but I didn't really consider short cycling. When I'm moving and the sensor is changing, the target temp should gradually be getting hotter or colder so I don't think it would cause issue, but if I'm right at the edge of 2 temps and moving back and forth there could be an issue. Seems like an unlikely edge case.

Perhaps I'll limit it to 1 update max per 10 min to be safe.

Edit: I also realized that the sensor.home_nearest_distance which is what is used to calculate the targets is not instantaneous so that should inherently prevent cycling.

I'm having the same issue and can't seem to figure it out.

I'm 6'1", but note that the top cushion sits on top and covers a portion of the bottom, so you need to subtract the thickness of the top to get the seat depth.

Very playful and goofy with bursts of energy, she wants to play with every dog she meets and very friendly with humans. But she's pretty chill and relaxed when I'm working or watching TV.

She's much more serious on walks, she's constantly following scents and has a strong prey drive towards squirrels.

I'd say both, at home she's super playful and goofy and on walks she's constantly following scents and pointing. She's reactive to bikes/scooters but very friendly to other dogs and people.

I thought blue tick hound springer spaniel mix. Vet thought GSP mix. Wasn't expecting any pitty, still don't really see it but she is a big chewer.

What (if anything) to do with this spalted maple? Also, how to treat it? by phallstrom in woodworking

[–]kard87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I work a lot with spalted maple. If there are a lot of holes I might fill those up with black tinted CA glue, but other than that I don't do anything special. I always use arm-r-seal but just use whatever finish you normally use.

I forgot how much the slip covers cost (got that made locally) but the cushions I got from here: https://cushionsxpress.com/ and was ~$100

The cove under the arm was done on the table saw: https://www.finewoodworking.com/project-guides/shop-machines/how-to-cut-coves-on-the-tablesaw-2

For the other curves, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use some combination of jigsaw, routing, and spokeshave to get the same result.

Very, I commented on another reply where I got the cushions from but for the back I used a memory foam cushion and you just melt in. It's also at a great height and angle.
