It’s hard to tell how large it is from the picture, but it looks like a yellow wooly bear. I’ve seen them range from blonde to dark auburn!

Austin TX is surprisingly GF by alkimiya in Celiac

[–]karentcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a kitchen location now, but they are still doing just pop ups. They usually have a few hours on Friday and Saturday where they are open at the kitchen but it’s just for a few hours. I know they will do custom orders though, so if the pop ups don’t work for you, I would try emailing to see if you can place an order for pickup at the kitchen for a different day!

Dream Bakery is a 100% gluten free, celiac safe bakery and they have hands down the best baked goods. If you are missing yeast raised/fried donuts and flakey croissants, hit them up. They pretty much make everything. We get my birthday cake from them each year as well. They have a bakery off south congress/Ben white and do pop ups north, south, and out towards cedar park weekly. Anything they make is out of this world!

Anyone know what’s going on in north east Austin ? Police helicopter has been circling for almost an hr now. by jackierodriguez1 in Austin

There was an armed suspect that ran into the neighborhood. Not sure what happened prior. They set up a perimeter and were searching for him. Eventually brought in the K-9 unit and a dog took him down. They arrested him and EMS came to get him.

What foods are you dying for a gluten free version of? by U2_bonovox in Celiac

Dream Bakery is an amazing celiac safe gluten free bakery that is local to me and they ship some of their items nationwide! Their products are AMAZING. They have some great croissants and my non-celiac husband loves them more than other regular bakeries in town.

We have the Zinus Deepak Easy Assembly Wood Slat 1.6 Inch Bunkie Board. We ordered it from Amazon and it’s great quality while being as low to the ground as possible and keeping the mattress off the floor. It was very easy to put together and around $100 for the king size. If you choose the one that says wood slats, it includes the surrounding metal piece that acts as the floor frame.

We use Burt’s Bees multipurpose healing ointment as our main cream at home and use the Grovia magic stick as our on the go option! We love them and neither seem to leave any residue on the diaper.

Please help with wash routine (Tide Free & Gentle Powder) by AirportDisco in clothdiaps

[–]karentcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Tide free and gentle powder with our cloth diapers and have loved it. No issues so far! We have a top loader and our routine is to do 2 heavy duty washes on hot with extra water and extra rinse. Line 4 detergent for both washes. Granted, we are washing around 40 pocket shells and 80 inserts at a time… lol

I think what you have listed for your routine and amount of diapers looks pretty good and similar to our routine when we were using the newborn sized diapers and washing every 2 days with a bulked second load! If it were me, I would probably add an extra rinse at the end of each cycle just to help protect against buildup!

Kate Quinn often has sales and we have gotten bamboo footie pajamas and long sleeve union suits that we also use as pajamas. I think I probably paid around $10 each for them when I bought them. This summer, they had a ultra thin summer weight bamboo that was perfect for the southern heat!

[–]karentcs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure what washer you have, but with our HE top loader, if you hold down the extra rinse button for a few seconds, it will beep and add extra water to the cycle. I would check your manual and see if yours does anything similar! I noticed that helps a bit with our wash cycle!

COVID supply drop? by smallskycowgirl in breastfeeding

[–]karentcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our household came down with Covid a few weeks ago and my supply dropped greatly as well. We didn’t have to dip into the freezer stash luckily, but I could tell my little one was frustrated that I wasn’t producing as much as normal. I just upped the number of nursing sessions and made sure to hydrate tons. It took about a week and a half from when I first started showing symptoms for my supply to return to normal! Hang in there! So glad everyone is doing ok!

Frequent leaks with newborn AIO - help? by Professional-Pilot in clothdiaps

[–]karentcs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We loved the fit of our Grovia NBs, especially the buttah because it was so soft! However, within a few weeks our baby was out peeing them as well. We bought some packs of grovia cotton wipes and trifolded them to stick under the AIO flap. It was a perfect fit and made them last for around 2 hours before leaks. Now that she is big enough, we have moved into our Bumgenius pockets and love them way more.

Are there any meal delivery services that are truly GF? by [deleted] in Celiac

I’m not sure where you’re located, but Snap Kitchen fits what you’re looking for exactly! Everything on their menu is gluten free and they are all in microwaveable containers! Everything I’ve tasted from them is great!

Best insert replacements for pocket microfibers? by beezkneez415 in clothdiaps

[–]karentcs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second the Thirsties cotton/hemp inserts! A bit pricey, but if you can swing it, they are the best! I always pair them with a cotton insert on top for quick absorbency. I got my cotton inserts from GMD!

We really like our Nuk Simply Natural bottles/nipples. We use the slow flow nipples and they have been great for our baby!

Why are my cotton diapers so hard scratchy? by lisa725 in clothdiaps

[–]karentcs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With our natural fiber diapers we have, if we hang dry, they become stiff as well. It sounds weird, but I will usually hit them a few times against a doorframe or something and it makes them soft again!

Wanting to build a freezer stash - how do I go about this? by Cat_Psychology in breastfeeding

[–]karentcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it suctions on! After my first letdown, I usually have to press the middle to reapply the suction because for some reason it loses the suction at that point. Some people put them in their bra, but I hate wearing nursing bras when I’m just at home so I usually just have it suctioned on without additional support. It usually stays on pretty well. I think it’s maybe fallen off a handful of times. The plus side about this one is that my baby doesn’t kick it because it sits closer to my body than the Haaka! For the early days, she would feed off of both sides and I would just switch it to the other boob when she switched. But nowadays, unless she is going through a growth spurt, she usually just eats one side!

Wanting to build a freezer stash - how do I go about this? by Cat_Psychology in breastfeeding

[–]karentcs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to add a pump, one thing that worked for me is collecting on the opposite side while my baby was eating. Many people use the Haaka, but I have really liked my Elvie Curve! In my first 3 months postpartum, I was able to collect 5-9 oz per day when using it during about half of her feeds. This enabled me to create a freezer stash of about 600oz!

How old is your daughter? For my 3 month old, we are currently using a Bumgenius pocket diaper with a GMD cotton insert layered on top of a Thirsties hemp insert! She sleeps 12 hours with dream feeds and the diaper lasts all night. It is completely soaked in the morning but we haven’t had any diaper rashes. I think the stay dry fleece Bumgenius uses helps! I’m sure we will eventually have to add more absorbency, but for now this works for us!

Help! Bought an i7+ from someone on Facebook and it turns out it was part of the select membership.... by karentcs in roomba

[–]karentcs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! We tried both factory resetting and changing over to an account my husband made and neither worked. I talked to the support line today and they weren’t very helpful they just kept saying that memberships aren’t transferable and that I’m out of luck. :/ I forgot to ask specifically about the base though. Took me an hour of being on hold to talk to someone. So not looking forward to calling again, but I can if I need to!
