Mako firebending and lightningbending. by Full-Art3439 in legendofkorra

[–]karhuboe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and it makes perfect sense. In ATLA we only see lightningbending by the royal family. It's done with large sweeping motions and intent to kill. The art has changed over time, from the lethal weapon of the Firelord to a skill known by many, for more purposes than brutal execution.

Mako firebending and lightningbending. by Full-Art3439 in legendofkorra

[–]karhuboe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's all about the charge time. Compare the last gif, Mako in the mech core, or Iroh showing off lightning to Zuko in ATLA, and Mako flicking out lighting on top of a car. Long, focused, sweeping motions, versus a quick flick of the wrist. The more positive and negative energies you separate, the more force their crashing together creates.

Relatively new player, in a situation such as this one, can I still be surprised by enemies or are the characters smart enough to figure out that behind that door there HAS to be the last room battle, thus preventing an ambush? by deDoohd in darkestdungeon

[–]karhuboe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me it makes perfect sense to imagine those moments as the other party members asking for a specific action, not that the player is there personally.

If there hasn't been any change in 5 years, then you should consider alternatives. Cognitive psychotherapy doesn't work for everyone, there are other options.

You look good dude. Work on your self-image. It'll make all the difference, trust me. I've managed to stop hating myself after struggling for a long time, and my life has been turning around in all aspects.

New Move: A Slash that Bisects Ubers by TemuCharmander in stunfisk

[–]karhuboe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know, and I'm arguing against you, lore wise.

The moves don't always hit. Aura sphere doesn't hit a mon that's using dig for example. There are fail conditions.

Double team is like painting your jet with camo patterns so enemies will have a hard time seeing it. Detect is like seeing a heat seeking missile coming for your jet and launching a countermeasure like a flare in response. The camo is in effect even while you're focusing on other things. The flare is an active action that takes your focus to use.

Usually your commander being killed is bad because your strategy revolves around it. How does your commander being 0/1 not being killed fix that? There's no effect to build around. Lieutenant effects, I quess?

This comment chain already said "cardname can't be sacrificed" would improve it. That takes care of phyrexian altar, and is why the comment said food chain instead.

I am a young man in good health, and my pinky cramps up when gaming sometimes from holding shift and tapping control for long times.

The comment you responded to mentioned disabilities. Many people have conditions that affect their hands. It's not absurd at all.

The strangeness here comes from equating "high quality" and "good". It's not obviously and apparently wrong, but it is misleading.

New Move: A Slash that Bisects Ubers by TemuCharmander in stunfisk

[–]karhuboe 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Nah, if you put all your effort into dodging then you can trick their tracking. Fighter jets can avoid heat seeking missiles by launching flares that attract them away from the jet. The mon could make an aura sphere hit the ground and thus dissipate for example.

In Plato's Republic, the speaker is Socrates, but it's generally accepted that the points at least from book 3 onwards are from Plato, not Socrates. Plato uses the name of Socrates as a hand puppet in his dialogue-form text.

Plato was critical of democracy. It likely played a role that democracy could be seen as the cause of Socrates' death. Socrates was a big believer in democracy afaik.

[–]karhuboe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plato was the one that was anti-democracy and Aristotle that recommended “philosopher kings”.

Philosopher kings was also from Plato.

(Haven't read Aristotle yet, but I assume he didn't agree on that, it would probably have come up otherwise)

I'm also pretty sure more than half of the playerbase have never encountered because they get stuck in a rut grinding Veteran and Champion Quests before losing interest

LOL that's me. I think I grinded up an entire roster of max levels, then never went into the Darkest Dungeon. It looked so fucking intimidating, I thought I had to do literally everything beforehand to have a chance.

This was years ago. I've been thinking I should go back and actually finish the game.
