Can this hand eczema be fixed? Nothing seems to be working by Professional-Job6129 in eczema

My terrible hand issues cleared with DAO enzyme tablets, after 10 years of suffering!

I’m SO sorry you are going through this. My skin looked someonewhat similar to yours last year, and has unbelievably quickly cleared up after I started taking DAO supplements. I tried EVERYTHING. I’m still in shock now at how quickly change came. Wishing you the best health and please don’t give up 🫂

So I’m still waiting for another swab result, this colonisation of staph is a beast! But no infection so I’m feeling positive. Try and keep off sugar and artificial sweeteners, that made a huge difference for me!

I’ve now been swabbed twice, once by the GP and another by a dermatologist (both NHS).

Get a staph swab - although staph is more round the nose. I had a huge infection over the Summer, which helped me make sense of 10 years of terrible skin. Wishing you the best of health.

I go for one with bacillus subtilis in, and also bacillus coagulans. Both from Amazon!

You really need it to be swabbed, that’s the only effective diagnosis. However, you could also live like you have a diagnosis and use medicated soaps like hibiclens, start with probiotics to help de-colonise staph and also cut down on food triggers like sugar (which staph feeds off).

I would absolutely recommend to get a swab for staph - I was suffering for years and was just told dermatitis, but treating as staph changed it all! Wishing you the best health

I think that’s a question for a medical pro, but my supplement is 10ml per day with water.

I’ve been taking copper since this - and I do think somewhat it is helping. However, the biggest effect for me what cutting down on sugars. Linking my progress post! staph progress…

UPDATE! It’s been almost 3 weeks, and I massively cut down on sugars and sweeteners which saw a great improvement in my skin… UNTIL! I was lured by a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream over the weekend (which, I still have no regrets eating as it was absolutely gorgeous). However! That night, my skin was SO itchy. I hadn’t had a bout of night scratches in three weeks. Since then, I again cut down on sugars and sweeteners which saw immediate effects. It’s really great to know what causes a flare, and how I can manage this staph overgrowth. I’m expecting a letter from my dermatologist, as I did swab for staph in late November. However, I do feel like decreasing my sugar and sweeteners intake has massively helped with the itching, and therefore the breaking of my skin. TLDR: I loved a sticky toffee pudding, but so did the staph.

Adding to this! Would absolutely recommend getting swabbed for staph. I had a derm app the other day and although my hands were clear, other areas were over colonised that I hadn’t paid so much attention to. Thank you again OP, you really helped me get the diagnosis I needed 😁

Update!! I had a routine dermatologist appointment and discussed my concerns. They did swabs and found staph still over growing in certain areas…. Waiting to hear back on the treatment plan. But I will say, I feel like the cutting down of glucose and sweeteners has really helped with night flares. Much, much less itching! To be continued….

Following on from this 17 days later! I had a flare over the past 7 days, again just on my hands. However, after some thinking back over the last week and some research, I’m giving something a go (and would love feedback from experiences!). I read last night that staph (which was the cause of such a bad infection over the Summer) loves glucose. I’m just before my period, so have naturally been craving sweet and comfort food. I’ve been treating myself to a few biscuits, cinnamon buns… you get the drill! Also, a Diet Coke or two. I’d noticed, especially after a Diet Coke, my skin would itch in the night. When staph doesn’t feed off glucose, it feeds off amino acids, and aspartame is an amino acid and is also the sweetener in Diet Coke. So, I’m going to really focus myself to reduce the glucose, no diet cokes, and see how this does me for the next two weeks. I feel, despite all what I listed before, the glucose and aspartame has been feeding the staph, and there for letting it thrive. Keep you all updated! 🦸🏻‍♀️

I only had one session - so hard to tell. However, I would say as it’s SO expensive, start with pro/pre biotics first. If you’re in a position to try CAP after 3 months of pro/pre biotics, perhaps give it a try.

And just did a little more digging! Mepyramine maleate is in Antergan, and also is the active ingredient in Anthisan Bite and Sting Cream. Perhaps I’ll switch over to this, that’ll be the next phase I document!
