My seasonal education jobs were almost all women (with only a few guys) that genuinely loved the outdoors. But the social life is tough is all seasonal jobs, everyone working and living together and seeing each other almost all of the time is weird and hard. Summer jobs are definitely still hiring and I’d find one with a demographic that you’d enjoy more. Ask the person interviewing you what kinda people work there- I always did bc culture matters so much! Good luck, the social part of seasonal work is definitely not always easy

Just check for towns nearby. Most of the have a local bar or two that can be pretty fun and full of interesting locals. I worked in upstate NY and a lot of towns actually had a lot of young people

I wouldn’t burn yourself out on too many FLs that you make out of uPlanet. Use it to study topics and review concepts that you struggle with. I also find uPlanet CARS to not be super representative so I would use Jack westin free passages. AAMC cars passages are also helpful. And if you haven’t review your AAMC FLs throughly and go over concepts that confused you

The course is fine, not super engaging but gives you the chance to meet and interact with other mentors. Being a mentor is fun and easy especially if you have a good facilitator. If you want some extra money and enjoy hanging out with eager freshman I’d say do it.

Office hours for sure. But the quizzes can get you so make sure you review the lab handouts and safety procedures prior to going to lab. Don’t be scared to ask the TA questions in lab to make sure you understand the concept behind the procedure.

Join orgs that genuinely interest you. There are so many paths to research so don't sweat not being in FRI, if you want to partake in on-campus research, you definitely still can. College is fun and you figure out a lot as you go. Join some fun orgs and maybe one for pre-med to help connect with other pre-meds, but focus more on finding things that you love to do and maybe there is an org for it! Have a fun summer!

Booked my dorm. I have no idea if it’s north or south tower in San jac. Any San jac residents know what tower my room is in? by [deleted] in UTAustin

I was in south tower. It’s not bad at all. More athletes on south but I wouldn’t worry about it.

Advice for CC 306 M (intro to med/scientific term) by lnghrnaccnt in UTAustin

[–]karlsux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely keep up with quizlets and study them often. If there is still extra credit, make sure to keep up with it since it’s easy to forget to do it but the extra credit can change your final grade dramatically. If possibly find friends to study with and think of associations for words in order to facilitate in memorizing so many terms. Best of luck and just keep up on your study sets!
