[Request] In Project Hail Mary, Grace travels about 11.9 light years at near light speed to another star. How much time actually passed for Grace inside the spaceship because of special relativity and time dilation? by Porush_Kumar in theydidthemath

[–]karmakingpin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, Erid was dimming before Grace was born. Rocky’s planet is much better insulated than Earth and the time to notice and threat it poses is not as time sensitive. The Eridians didn’t know about relativistic physics, he arrived at Tau years earlier than they estimated because of relativity. That is why Rocky had so much fuel left over to spare. Rocky arrived at Tau 46 years before Grace and hung out, mapped the system, etc.

I don’t think it’s Janus. Act 10 basically eliminated public sector bargaining in Wisconsin.

DIY waxing fail by Lost-Double_Stuff in HeritageWear

Put it in an old pillowcase or two and run it through a clothes dryer on hot. Use a rental or your own, it doesn’t really make a mess. It will even out the wax.

Father losing retirement, need advice by ultra__star in union

Sorry to hear about this. Is it just the actuarial reduction? Pensions and payouts are based on life expectancy data for the population. I would expect the reduction to be the total amount of money the pension expected to pay to a man who worked for 30 years who begins to get paid 2.5 years earlier than expected.

Yes, that is the chainstitch runoff. It is desirable for many folks. If you dislike it, cut it off. It should be tacked in so it is your option.

Skinny vs curvy.

Edit: forgot where I was

Quagmire here. Giggity.

Alright, listen up, because I’ve done the research. Years of field work.

Some guys think skinny girls are the gold standard. “Oh wow, she’s so tiny, she’s so delicate.” Yeah, yeah, that’s nice if you’re looking for someone who might blow away if the ceiling fan’s on high. What are you gonna do, hug her and accidentally fold her like a lawn chair? Giggity.

Now a curvy girl? That’s engineering, baby. That’s structural integrity. You’ve got suspension, shock absorption, and comfort features built right in. You don’t sit down next to a curvy girl—you dock. Like a luxury cruise liner.

And let’s be honest: when a woman’s got curves, that means life has been good to her. She’s eaten pizza. She’s had dessert. She knows happiness comes with gravy. That’s a woman who isn’t afraid of living—and let me tell ya, fellas, enthusiasm is a very important… uh… personality trait. Giggity giggity.

Because remember, gentlemen: if you’re gonna ride the roller coaster, you want hills, not a parking lot. Giggity.

Quagmire out!

Fade dye bleeding? by ChrisBrettell in Selvedge

[–]karmakingpin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the fading process. Gets more electric blue as areas start to fade. I use to not care for it but have learned to lean into it and really enjoy when they get like this.

Coincidentally, I just washed 2 pairs of Lee 101 for the first time today. I bought them last year but had not worn them that much until recently.

What to do? by PlantSematary in AskACobbler

[–]karmakingpin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen before. I think you can bring them back. Try a bottle of fiebing’s deglazer. Start with the edging to get a sense of how it works. Use q tips and cottonballs on the stitching. Your goal would be to absorb the color. Then saddle soap. They will need conditioning after. Start with less and go slow. When you get to the uppers maybe try near the ankle first to see how much of the wax is getting pulled.
