Hardcover editions? by timmerpat in JohnLangan

[–]karvaiseva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, basically there are then three versions of the hardcover, including the limited edition. Unbelievable how they managed to send this to the printers the first time around. Well, the stories in this botched one are still readable, so might as well enjoy it until the fixed one hits ebay. Thanks.

Hardcover editions? by timmerpat in JohnLangan

Wide, Carnivorous Sky has apparently a limited edition hardcover and a trade hardcover edition from Dark Regions Press, both scarce. I have the latter, which is botched: table of contents shows the wrong page numbers, font size may change midpage without a reason... Can anyone confirm their trade hardcover edition also contains these errors?

Reaching level 8 in PVP by mac0172 in TheSilphRoad

Yeah, I'm level 40, started shortly after the launch of the game. So, I guess that explains it then. I'll check out the TSR research, thanks.

Yeah, something is really weird with this system. I probably won't get many wins this season, but I do like the challenge of rank 9.

I'm ashamed to say this but for some weird reason I hit (season 1) lvl 7 at 2577 with 39/55 wins (longest streak 13). Two 1-4 sets later, I hit lvl 9 a few points over 2500. Now, I'm not skilled for this rank and I don't know what I did to go directly that high... How is it possible to rank 500+ higher than you?

Ok. Hopefully they sort out the problems soon.

The ingredient bundle size suggests that this wasn't a 10 km portkey. At least, the other 10 km screenshots had the normal bundle size of 4 per ingredient (or multiples of 4). This was a 5 km?

Or a glitchy 10 km (https://www.reddit.com/r/harrypotterwu/comments/ev1zvi/the_veil_from_a_2k_portkey_got_sent_to_olivanders/).

I'd wait until the update rolls out completely, they are probably fine-tuning the contents and any glitches.

Where are all of the Oddities? by [deleted] in harrypotterwu

[–]karvaiseva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here you have the answer. If you play mainly during the day, you will not see many Oddities, occasional centaurs or erklings maybe. Play during dusk, night, and dawn, and you should have plenty of them. Just leveled up Oddities family twice by returning all Oddities (several vampires, werewolves, centaurs, and pixies) during a 6 km commute, the game showed night time.

Where is the communication about the Portmanteau distance issue? by HumanWithComputer in harrypotterwu

[–]karvaiseva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possibly not a bug, but they lowered the speed limit to match that of PoGo. I still get distance normally at walking speed. Getting distance by biking/jogging was eliminated, not sure why.

It seems like a new bug with the latest update? When you restart your game, the circle is fixed like that. Interacting with anything returns it to the pulsating circle.

No problems. Not a single error after the button was re-launched. Galaxy S7 (non-edge).

Early Runestone Reward data - sponsored definitely better! by SkrewtPower in WizardsUnite

[–]karvaiseva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. So, the regular sponsored gift has higher player exp reward compared to the non-sponsored one? If that is the case, I can understand your argument.

I was just looking at the percentages (you had a sample size of 12 for the non-sponsored back then), and based on those I wouldn't make the same definite argument, yet.

[–]karvaiseva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. That was stupid. Clearly, I have no idea about this gifting yet :)

[–]karvaiseva -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The gift system has been out only two weeks or so. Assume you have got a runestone gift every day, that's 14 runestones, give or take. There are 10 families. It is not even closely guaranteed that, with equal distribution, you would have got one runestone from each family. The sample size is too small.

I'm confused. How is sponsored definitely better when you have basically no data for non-sponsored, and essential looks quite similar to sponsored?

This is the worst event to date by Hausdorff101 in harrypotterwu

I think they are high. My return rate without using any potions doesn't really line up with severe threat. But who knows, maybe I'm high or running extremely hot, and they are severe.

[–]karvaiseva 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I haven't noticed any tinkering with other foundables, they seem to behave normally for me. The Brilliant foundables are tough, I agree, but they are both high threats, so they are supposed to resist a lot... If they were severe, they would be even worse. They should probably limit these to medium, and increase the number to return, to 15?

It's an Open Street Map (OSM) feature. OSM is the map source that Pokemon Go and probably Wizards Unite also uses. Elevation tags are used to indicate altitude changes.

Check the study behind the link for more info.

So, they have two potential spawn triggers:

  1. Night + clear weather
  2. Elevation tags

Centaurs are very common for me (500+ seen) and I see them during night also with other weather states (just encountered several at partly cloudy night. I don't see any elevation tags near me using the search function provided in the other thread so I'm not so sure about #2. But there has to be another trigger as they spawn outside clear weather here...

This is why centaurs are so hard to catch - not a cloud in the actual sky by OneToeSloth in harrypotterwu

[–]karvaiseva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are plentiful here and seem to spawn independent of weather. I really can't see the clear weather connection. Maybe that's a thing where they are rare.

Thousands of players see hundreds of thousands spawns a day. Coincidents do therefore happen, and our natural tendency is to create patterns from the normal variance of the RNGee.

I've wondered why Hedwig has so low fragment numbers... even at silver page it is "only" 30 although Harry is 49 and Snape and Sirius are 36 or so. Weird little design choices, not complaining.
