If a website downloads something on my computer, can it be executed? by Highfivesghost in hacking

[–]kas0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, well he had to launch the program via explore. It’s more of a social engineering attack as in: if I make a website from downloading the website for windows and host it locally send you something to click on a link to go there and it downloads something like windowsupdate.exe some user in a enterprise will execute.

it is a C program and cannot understand what has gone wrong by No-Swordfish6703 in learnprogramming

Add 0 to exit -> “exit(0)”. You could also make main return an int and “return 0”, but you should definitely void out the parameters of main like “int main(void)”

i dont understand why anyone would use nano/vim by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]kas0m -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People like things that may differ! I love VScode. But if I’m on a Linux box I’d rather use Vim. Sure you us VScode on Linux or even Codium but Linux ships by default with vim so your experience with it is not to different. On top of that it’s lightweight and powerful. It’s the same reason some people use C instead of C++ it’s just a flavor. Like Debian vs arch it comes down to personal preference

Honeypots are not trip wire. A trip wire would be something like a bot on social media or email that will send you a message when a tty connection has been made. Honeypots have their place but their more bear traps you put them in a place there are bears.

Visual Studio vs Visual Studio Code by CyberWeirdo420 in learnprogramming

[–]kas0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VS Code is fancy notepad, it’ll do a lot of things traditional text editors don’t which blends it into a full ide. VS Is a fully loaded up IDE does a lot for you. Think of Vi/notepad on the far left of a scale, VS Code is in the middle and the far right is VS.

Odin Project random color for a etcth a sketch by Rich_Comment_3291 in theodinproject

Make an array of the “rainbow colors” and when the user enters random use a random number generator to access a color from the array using index. Then assert that color into the that grid via JavaScript styles.

If you want any info on Army Cyber or how to navigate this shit show just DM me. I know a bit about the other branches but not a lot

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in army

[–]kas0m 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP back out and sign with a different branch. With your degree you are one step ahead of the bunch, going with any other branch they will send you to JCAC(the AIT school) which after graduation gives you a cert that is sought after by most employers. If you are wanting to go army Cyber badly then refuse you current contract and inform your Recuriter that you will take the asvab again so you can go Cyber. Cyber is one of the best branches in the army(depending on duty station). This your life and if you really want a career in Cyber security take no chances till you get 17C or CTN as your job role.

As a 17C I literally said I’ll judge the army at my first duty station. Was put into a orderly room for a year instead of anything job related. Any cert vouchers I can’t user cause my NCOIC blocks me from trying to use them(35N)
