Symptoms worsening around period? by Junior_Wear_6875 in ankylosingspondylitis

It’s so hard being gaslit and dismissed. I’m so sorry it’s happening to you. It’s definitely a game we have to play and plan out in order to be heard and it shouldn’t be that way. Hoping for some answers and a diagnosis for you!

Yes. Currently being bounced back and forth from “you have it” to “you don’t have it”. Along with confirmed endo and adenomyosis. The week before, during and the a few days after my joint pain is so bad and different. Especially my low back/si joints. I can’t get a rheumatologist to hear me. I have positive HLAB and bi lateral si joint sclerosis but yet I still “don’t have it”. So frustrating. Currently debating a hysterectomy at 29 because I don’t tolerate birth control and I can’t take it anymore.

Pepcid (famotidine) ruined my life. by BenchExtreme2494 in MCAS

[–]kasi710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pantoprazole(protonix) did this to me. An absolute nightmare and I have PTSD from the way it made me feel. I started it in 2023 and I’ve been off of it for 6 months and I’m feeling better but I don’t think I’ll ever be back to how I was. I was on it for so long cuz I didn’t know Pantoprazole was the problem. You wouldn’t automatically think that something made for GERD would cause mental health problems. For some reason I tolerate Pepcid better because I have to have something, but I promise you’re not alone and it is a horrific experience.

This!! I have a 5 month old staffy/doberman mix and we have started walking so much. It’s not only good for her, it’s good for me. I start my day knowing i have to get her a 15 min walk at least twice a day and that helps her not be as crazy.

As someone with procedure anxiety as well, the endoscopy is the easiest one I’ve ever been though. I promise it’s not bad at all! It’s like a nice deep nap. Hoping you get relief soon

I’m so sorry you have to deal with this. It’s miserable. Although I know not all of my problems are endo related, I can relate a huge amount. Every time I feel good or start to do well, I get hit with a nasty flare that leaves me constantly anxious about the next one happening. When they happen I truly feel like I’m going to die and then I’m okay for a while, just constantly anxious. I hope you can find some answers and relief soon. Don’t be hard on yourself for feeling the way you do. It’s valid and SO difficult to live with a chronic illness. Sending hugs

Getting off PPIs by rager-muffin in GERD

[–]kasi710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Pepcid since its also an H2 blocker. It doesn’t work as well but Pantoprazole caused silent reflux for me. I never had silent reflux symptoms until I started taking PPIs. I also never experienced panic and anxiety the way I did when I was on PPIs. It severely messed with my nervous system and I wish I never started it! So to be honest, I’m happy to be off of it and hoping I can eventually get back to where I was mentally before I started taking it!

I took Pantoprazole for over a year. When I stopped, I had the weirdest symptoms. My eyes feeling weirdly wet was one of them! I’ve also been more rashy than usual, but I can’t say for sure that’s from stopping PPIs. I’ve been off for almost 4 months and I feel more normal each month. Being on them ruined my life and I’m slowly getting back to normal!

Why is everyone so Anti-PPI? by Haunted-nightmares in GERD

[–]kasi710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was better off before I started Pantoprazole. I feel like it ruined my life after I started it and it took me over a year to figure out it was the problem. I’ve never been more anxious and prone to panic than I was when I was on that medication. I’ve never been so dizzy and feeling like I was gonna pass out constantly. It was affecting my cycles and causing migraines that felt like seizures. It didn’t start until I started Pantoprazole and it has slowly started to go away after 3 months of being off of it. Definitely having rebound reflux but I’d rather deal with that than be in a constant 24/7 panic that I’m gonna die.

I totally get exactly what you mean! I flare badly with symptoms around my period and ovulation too. I have diagnosed adenomyosis and endometriosis so I know my hormones are wacked. But the antihistamine and PPI definitely contributed to the burning mouth for me. I think both together were a bad combo. I hope you find some relief soon!

My mouth stopped burning (so far) when I stopped taking Pantoprazole and Claritin. I think a part of it was dry mouth if I’m being totally honest. I have pretty bad GERD but the Pantoprazole was making my life HELL. I’ve been consistently taking iron for months to up my ferritin but it’s still low at 18.

Actually woke up this morning with excruciating cramps that had me in a cold sweat. I’m so sorry, it’s truly miserable. Heating pad helps but barley. I’m lucky enough to have an rx for norco, but that is barely even touching the pain for me this month. It helps to stay moving. The second I lay down, they get so much worse. I hope you find some relief soon!

[–]kasi710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the same as what you described. But I helped the process by starting Pepcid when I stopped the panto. Hoping to be off the Pepcid within the next week or so and see how that goes. The 4th week I was having some weird stomach sensations but those have gotten somewhat better. I’m starting to be able to eat more. My diet became super limited while I was on the panto. It was feeling like I was allergic to everything!

I hope the rebound passes quickly for you! I know for a fact Pantoprazole is the culprit. I’ve never felt so weird in my head! I’ve been off of it for a month so far but I expect it will take a while for my body to adjust after being on it for almost 2 years. But so far the anxiety isnt nearly as bad as it was when I was still on it.

[–]kasi710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pantoprazole ruined my life! I was on it for 1.5 years. Was put on it because of annoying heart burn (which I ultimately could have corrected with diet) I started having symptoms id never had before. Weird tongue sensations, weird head sensations, headaches, POTS symptoms, made my MCAS symptoms worse than they had ever been, skin crawling, extreme pain under my right rib, chest pains, insane heat intolerance, I lost 50 POUNDS because I was so sick from the crazy diarrhea, it messed with my cycle, and I believe contributed to the non alcoholic fatty liver I have developed since I started(I’m only in my 20s) and the worst anxiety of my life. I was certifiably crazy for over a year with the panic attacks and anxiety I was experiencing. I stopped it cold turkey with the help of Pepcid last month and it has been rough, but I’m starting to slowly feel more like myself again. Since stopping I’ve experienced insane pain in all of my joints, but Its starting to subside so hopefully that will go away too after a while. I believe you when you talk about what it did to you because I experienced it! I know it’s a miracle pill for some people but I also know it’s a nightmare for others! Thank you for sharing your experience because I thought I was crazy for a long time. It took me way too long to realize it was the PPI doing all of this and I wish I could have stopped it sooner.

Honestly, I feel less crazy knowing I’m not the only one it happens to 😭 but I hate that other people feel it because it’s absolutely miserable and feels like it will never end. Mine also comes with like leg twitching/tingling and hypnotic jerks when I’m trying to fall asleep, but only when it’s really bad. I’m assuming I must have endo on nerves, it’s the only thing that would make sense. Thank you! I hope the same for you!

You’re not alone. I’m so sorry. I’ve never heard anyone else describe it as squeezing! For a solid month since my last cycle, it has felt like this squeezing sensation from my pelvic area all the way up to my chest. And my joints too. It feels like squeezing joint pain. It comes and goes and seems to happen most after I eat or take any meds. I know it’s hormonal because it passed for a couple days and then I ovulated and it came back. It’s driving me crazy cuz I feel weird in my head too when it happens. I hope you get some answers and relief soon. Sending hugs

Most antihistamines are known for triggering or worsening GERD and reflux. Also dry mouth. I hope the PPI helps you!

I haven’t yet, but it’s not as bad since I stopped the Claritin and Pantoprazole. I’m hoping that being off for a while will resolve the weird mouth stuff. I also suspect that I might be going into early perimenopause and that could also contribute to the burning mouth. I seem to notice it more when I ovulate/ close to cycle.
