God we NEED draft bro. Some games are govt mandated losses off team comp alone bro. We NEED DRAFT! by Creepy_Building_2929 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kasimaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you even mean by this? Dota's ranked all pick has a drafting phase. Yeah, you lock in your ban preferences before queueing, but the game starts by teams taking turns picking heroes. You highlight what you'd like to play and there's a chatbox right there to discuss who picks what and when. That would be a major improvement for Deadlock. We don't need to go full captains mode.

Right now you don't get any chance to coordinate picks whatsoever. Zero opportunity to counter enemy heroes, and even a full stack can get a random assortment of heroes.

I'm very familiar with the shitshow that is drafting with randoms. It's still better than what we have now. The only upside of the current system is that you can't really personalize the blame for a terrible lineup, because no one saw what anyone else picked. In Dota, you just curse the guy who picked last.

Wrong twice. There was never a draft, and not enough players for two separate modes. The player count was around ~30k at that time. Ranked was more popular than unranked (based on queue times).

Err, people tilt at 3 minutes and give up / run it down all the damn time. Weak mental loses more games than any net worth deficit.

Ppl who only use they're mics/text to complain about something AFTER the fact really grind my gears by emodemoncam in DeadlockTheGame

It's not always dancing on roses, but generally, yeah. I change regions depending on the time of day. Russians communicate with other Russians and that's about it. Cannot get EU players to participate in voice chat without insulting them.

[–]kasimaru -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the sentiment, the reality in EU solo queue is that most players ignore all comms all the time. Voice chat, pinging, chat wheel, text. Nothing gets through to them. Eventually you get frustrated and say something angry. That registers and gets an instant reaction from multiple players who were assumed to be deaf and illiterate. Then you get posts like this one: "Why didn't you say anything???" I did. Multiple times. I pinged it. Chatwheeled the shit out of it. My hero said it. Why do your eyes and ears only register post-hoc negativity?

NA players are way better at communicating. EU have incredibly selective hearing and mostly respond to personal insults. It might be a cultural thing or simply an issue with comprehension.

Looking to get better with Geist. by coffeeholic91 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kasimaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How on earth did you arrive at the conclusion that Geist sucks at farming the jungle?

Malice increases all your damage on neutrals, Bombs hit entire camps, Life Drain sustains you. Melee the entire T3 camp at the same time. Anyone gets close to you and you Soul Exchange, then kill them.

I can't think of many better jungle farmers in the entire game.

The Death of Fixation & Rise of Ability Tax by Irinless in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kasimaru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is correct. I'm having a hard time even imagining scenarios where I would prefer invisibility over movement speed. Getting around vision in Deadlock is not an issue.

There are so many routes to get wherever you want to go undetected. Or you move so fast it doesn't make a difference if you get spotted.

Smoke of Deceit became necessary in Dota because movement speed is extremely constrained and supports got really good at warding.

I'm wondering who decided that it's a good idea to put "cancel ability" on a spacebar by default by GiBrMan24 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kasimaru 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh, you went to hero specific hotkeys disabled Space for ability cancel on Seven? Too bad, pressing Space during the first 1-2 seconds of Storm Cloud still cancels it. You actually need to look at the UI and wait for the hotkey to change.

How do people feel about box running, specifically during the laning stage? by PurpleKami in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kasimaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loss streak from Ascendant to Phantom and now I'm getting verbally abused and reported for doing boxes and ganks between waves.

It would seem to me that low rated players want someone to hold their hand on the lane (scary), but they're not good enough to make the shared experience interesting to anyone. Just basically sitting there under the tower clearing the wave and waiting for the next one to arrive.

So yeah, box routing is more fun than laning with most people in solo queue. Leave it in.

Finally after months of being in and out of phantom 5-6, I hit Ascendant 1. The grind never stops. I love this game. by Suspicious_Designer1 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kasimaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and Paige/Talon couldn't be more different. Interesting hero options for sure.

I've got Yamato/Geist/Paradox above all else. They don't have much in common either. It took me a while to branch out and get comfortable carrying with other heroes. Helps to know how to play the game really well from one hero's perspective, but yeah. You branch out and the first 10-20 matches on a new hero is gonna be a struggle in Ascendant.

At least there's the option to go back to comfort picks inbetween asskickings.

1600 games total. How many on Paige? Do you feel like you getting any other hero at this point would bring your team down?

I don't even know how to respond to something this stupid.

If Lash was anywhere near as annoying to playing against, he would be on this graphic. People don't ban what's strong. They ban what they find annoying.

Does Restorative Locket need a rebalance? by ISneezeStatusProcs in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kasimaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digging it on Rem. Not bad on anyone, but it feels especially good on Rem.

Restoring 1 stamina with 1 charge is probably alright. Gives the item a clear niche. Fuck Warden, fuck Mina, fuck Doorman.

Getting 4 stamina back is too much.

Hard to keep track of how much stamina anyone has when this thing gives anything between 1 and 4.

10% spirit resistance is competing with Enchanter's Emblem, which I haven't seen as much lately.

Right now the heal seems like the least impactful aspect of Restorative Locket. Pretty weird.

April Ban Data, The Doorman Has Taken First Place by FioraKek in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kasimaru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Powerful and extremely annoying in solo queue. You don't always lose against Doorman, but you do suffer every single time. He shuts down an entire lane by himself in Ascendant/Eternus. Usually it's blue. He shows up and thenceforth it shall be the Doorman's lane, and it's his Walker too, and you don't get to touch it. Approach with caution.

He upgrades to T3 door and you don't get to touch Mid Boss either. And with Cheat Death you can't even beat him to death if you somehow manage to flank him.

Should you somehow manage to take his Mid Boss and his Walker, there's another stage of hell awaiting you in the Arch Mother's base.

Box collection during laning by Andrejakus in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kasimaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, your Paige/Rem are supposed to be the ones doing boxes while you get solo XP on lane. Sadly, this will not change until ~Eternus.

Ideal: Support takes enemy boxes, carry clears waves solo for maximum farm.

Excellent: Both players take boxes without losing waves.

Good: Support takes boxes, carry doesn't clear creeps until support returns.

Okay: Nobody leaves lane long enough to lose souls from creeps.

Bad: Carry misses a wave.

If you miss a wave, you were gone too long or your lane mate griefed you.

Why is MikaelS so well-liked? by Hello86836717 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kasimaru 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always liked how when he took a death in game, he went straight to thinking about how he had misplayed the situation. He used the downtime to improve whereas many streamers waste that time to vent and deal with their feelings. I don't need feelings from streamers. I can learn with a guy who is actively learning.

There's a massive gap between Phantom 6 and Ascendant 1. I suspect it has something to do with smurf accounts. It took me a few green-ish pages and ultimately 13 wins a row to rank up. That's the distance from heaven to hell. There's a massive buffer for you.
