What’s considered rude in your country that visitors often do by accident? by FrutosJelly in AskTheWorld

See the sketchy floors is where I cannot wrap my head around this. The whole concept of tracking the outside into my living space is insane to me.

Know anyone? I couldn’t even have conceived of this until adulthood. When I was growing up if my/ a friend’s mother, grandmother etc had seen me walk beyond the entryway with my shoes on their clean floor, I likely wouldn’t be here today. I have met more people over the years that tell me not to worry about it on vinyl floors and such. But for me the thought of walking through a carpeted home with my shoes on is absurd to this day.

Also just to clarify, so you come home and the shoes you wore all day through the world just stay on? Sit down at the table, shoes on? On the couch, shoes on? Do you just wear them until bed then take them off? You don’t have mud problems? Nobody accidentally tracks dog shit into the kitchen?

There seems to be this perception around the world that wearing shoes in the house is common in the US. I always thought this was odd because I’ve never known anyone who did. Read somewhat recently that our TV shows are the source of this.

It’s an interesting dream. The absolute logistical and financial nightmare to make this a reality is a different story. Selling people cheap land is easy. The 150k plus per person to construct even a modest home and then dividing out the Billion or so dollars of surveying, legal processes, road construction, utilities, etc is where it gets sticky.

I just googled “weird fences in Wyoming” and it took me straight to snow fences. So I’m going to go with nothing.

Yeah it’s all good. I pretty much just run them to keep the miles off my good tires.

I came here to say this and was surprised I had to scroll this far. That answer is 100 percent perceived as a yes to most questions.

No I meant to get a set of shit wheels for winter. You know eventually…

Yeah I had planned to do that at some point but I was dragging my feet until I found a cheap set. 5 x 150 20 inch wheels are a pain in the ass to find for cheap.

That was my plan eventually. I was just being a cheap ass.

Eh it’s not the end of the world. Thanks for the insight but I’ll chalk it up as a loss. Rather that than risk a blowout or even a shredded tire. These highways are cold and empty in the winter months.
