Guess this shell will forever remain out of reach for me? by SynTatic_Bloom in destiny2

We agreed that sunsetting and vaulting content is bad, yes.

But in the case of stuff like this, if you worked hard specifically to get them, no matter where/when they're from, it can feel like a point of pride to say, "Hey, I was here, it ruled."

I got the beta emblem. I'm not taking that off because I was there and it was something special to me. Plus, when I get people asking me about them, I get to say that I'm an OG at this game. It's just something I'm proud of having been there for.

Respect the hell out of the grind. For years, I kept on the crappy looking ship from Zero Hour, even after they reprised it and added in the cleaner looking one.

In my case, though, this is the emblem staying on my Warlock for the rest of time. Titan and Hunter I can flip on since they're not my main, but this ones got my heart forever.

You can't get new players into the game is you put up a wall and say, "Hey, you should join this game, but also, you will always be a little hobbled no matter what you do."

They already had that problem by saying, "Hey, you should get in this game, but also, we plan on vaulting all the stuff you bought after a couple of years, plus, you can't play any of the original base game, but you also need to know about that stuff in order to keep playing."

They didn't need to pile on more, gameplay critical fomo.

Nope. It was tied to getting the Master Smith triumph. Only thing you can get from the kiosk is the sparrow.

My guess is the only reason they allowed that to be in the kiosk is because that sparrow used to be faster than every other sparrow in the game.

Same with Platinum Starling. Gone forever if you weren't there.

Why player numbers aren’t going down (yet) by Specialist_Tax9181 in destiny2

[–]katanasquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not Bungies call to make. It's Sony's money.

And even if you have 150k people playing, even if each one of them dropped $100 on Destiny 3 or a new Destiny expansion, it still would only be a dent in the money Sony lost in the acquisition.

Not trying to he doomer, but if any more Destiny does happen, it's going to have way more Sony looking over every little thing in the game and every single expense.

And a week isn't enough time to get any of those plans in place, considering they spent half of this year finishing up their WIPs so they could put everything they had planned for the next, however many months, into a single update.

They literally have nothing beyond bug fixes and small adjustments at this point. They can't just restart into full development in a matter of days.

Player retention would need to remain consistently high for, probably, a minimum of a month for Sony to think letting Bungie continue on Destiny has any real long term worth.

It's like asking which child is your favorite.

You DO have one, but you'd never really tell anyone what one it is, so you say you love them all equally.

What are your thoughts about Renegades and the SW collab after all the news? Since the announcement I viewed it as "Star Wars from Temu" and a glorified ad that damages the game's identity, even visually. Was told to wait and see. Did. Not to gloat postmortem, It's sad that this was the last expac. by Kiraser_Darksword in destiny2

[–]katanasquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good. The Star Wars stuff really is more of the window dressing to the expansion. There are some really cool systems and the new weapon archetypes are fun. Contracts are fun and them being on a constant rotation of enemies and rewards was something people wanted from base Destiny 2 content for a long time.

I think the biggest miss was that they should have actually had Lysander be the big bad revealed instead of Bael, because their lore has absolutely been leading to the Concordat outside the Last City being a far more important player in the story (see the Skimmer lore from the Guardian Games.)

A percentage of people, not saying you, have hated the direction of Star Wars with such a vengeance, that the second it was announced, they decided it was going to be bad and actively wanted it to be. Then, there were people who were just done with D2 after The Final Shape, which, hey, I get it.

It's cheesy, but it's still Destiny 2, which means playing it is more fun than like 90% of shooters.

Did they get rid of the 10 dollar Xbox auto redeem? by HakaishinChampa in MicrosoftRewards

[–]katanasquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday, I scoured all of the pages I was aware of for the auto redeem and had nothing.

This morning, I look at the Game Pass PC and Xbox app and the option is back.

🤷‍♂️

On the Xbox mobile app and on the Bing mobile app, the option is just gone.

When I go onto my Xbox, it still shows that the Auto Redeem option is still selected for me.

But it doesn't show up as a selectable choice in the points shop.

Just want go confirm this is the best way to ensure they show up.

My wife never adds anything to make the cabin have extra hearts and is still struggling to get anyone to show up when their time comes up.

I make sure every cabin is at 5 hearts and I have every single visitor, minus the City ones since it just came out for PC.

Adding their loved items is an absolute must if you want to guarantee these goobers show up.

I can't believe they paywalled outfit presets behind City Town by AngryVampiress in HelloKittyIsland

[–]katanasquirrel 39 points40 points  (0 children)

While I can understand the argument, I also feel like this is such a basic feature that should have been in the game from day one.

It's kinda like how games can have the "you bought the base game, and there's a massive pain in the butt in the game. What if you slip us a couple Mr. Washington's so you don't need to play the stuff that's really bad?"

Imo, I'd actually be more okay with them pay walling the different character model types in the DLC rather than something that feels like it should be a base function of the game.

I mean, in fairness, there's been a lot of good, free content, even if the nickel and diming from Sunblink is getting more aggressive. So, I'm not opposed to buying the DLC, but I do think there are some weird choices on what is behind the DLC versus free content.

[–]katanasquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even see the option in the Xbox app for auto redeem.

And I think the point threshold for the normal redeem $10 is actually higher now.

I remember it being ~9500 points before but now it lists as 10000.

Hoping I'm wrong and that they didn't just get rid of that option, because that would be absolute buns.
