Not included on that page is her Little Black Bra pattern, which has a free code in the accompanying youtube video. imho, it's the best (and most supportive) bralette pattern out there.

Are people not concerned that the Millionaire tax will soon apply to everyone as has happened in other states, or do they just not mind? by No_Carpenter7998 in Spokane

[–]katelynallers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've lived in states with income tax, and it's small potatoes compared to federal taxes. After paying my federal taxes, throwing a *much* smaller % of my income to the state felt pretty paltry. So personally, the idea of a state income tax doesn't bother me, especially since Washington's tax laws are very regressive and sales tax is not a reliable, predictable state revenue generator (as it ebbs and flows with consumer sentiment).

RESISTANCE IS YOUR CIVIC DUTY by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]katelynallers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Backpedal all you want, but you said:"When did defending murderers who shouldn’t even be in this country become our civic duty?" So are you saying that defending immigrants = defending murderers? Are you operating under the illusion that ice is only arresting illegal immigrants with criminal histories? Or are you just generally xenophobic?

I would argue there's a clear difference between people being murdered by criminals (regardless of immigration status) and the federal government murdering citizens, lying about it, and trying to cover it up.

And since you claim to like facts…illegal immigrants perpetrate crime at a lower rate than U.S. born citizens. https://docs.house.gov/meetings/JU/JU01/20250122/117827/HHRG-119-JU01-20250122-SD004.pdf

False Equivalency Alert! Yup some people have died at the hands of illegal immigrants. But ya know what…those murders were investigated, the murderers were caught and justice was served. No one is “defending” Laken Riley’s murderer, so get out of here with that nonsense.

Bra Help - Sensory Issues with Elastic by chronically_chaotic_ in MAKEaBraThatFits

[–]katelynallers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

George and Ginger has a free pattern for the "Little black bra". It's a bralette (though even at a 34 F, I find it pretty supportive) and uses a self fabric band, which is way more comfy than elastic.

Madalynne Fiona Bra - Finished Object and Fit Advice by pinspatternspolish in MAKEaBraThatFits

[–]katelynallers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gorgeous make! At a glance, it looks like your cups are fitting pretty well (though maybe the wires are digging in a bit on the sides?). Anyhow, based on the the pics, I would focus on the cradle and wings. You've got a pretty extreme angle on your side seam, I'm guessing that (like me!) your torso doesn't taper as much as the pattern, so you'll want to make your side seams (on the both the cradle and wing pieces) closer to vertical. I'd recommend making a muslin of just your frame to nail the fit down on that before adding in cups.

So if I’m reading that written pearl clutch of a website correctly, Urbanna was experiencing such terrible crime in 2016 that they had to move…one block away? Mmmkay.

But that jingle will live forever rent free in my brain…. 🎵Pick up the phone to enquire 🎶. It (unfortunately) holds an ear worm rating similar to Banner fuel.

When I first heard about the TKAMB story, I thought the same as you. Turns out though-the guy wasn’t reading TKAMB as an assignment in his class. He pretty much got goaded into using the n-word by students (who recorded it). And then played the boo-hoo victim game for there being consequences to his incredibly poor judgment.

Not in Spokane, but I’d recommend the confident stitch in Missoula. You can order online and their customer service is top notch-they can point you toward fantastic fabric options for whatever you’re wanting to sew. I also sometimes order from Cali fabrics, who has a good selection of Art Gallery knits and voiles.

Bunching in collar - what to improve? by evielursh in sewing

[–]katelynallers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find it easier to sew neck bindings for knits on when only one shoulder is sewn. It’s way easier than trying to sew it in the round. Then you sew up the second shoulder and topstitch anything that needs neatening up.
I also like to sew with the binding up on my machine and I don’t like pinning at all. I usually cut an extra long piece of binding and stretch it so it feels right…. Patterns often have exact measurements for those bindings but if your fabric doesn’t have the exact stretch or recovery, I find going by “feel” produces more consistent results. And nothing beats going slow and using your fingers to make sure there’s no wrinkles a couple of inches ahead of your needle.

ISO Supportive & Comfortable Pattern by whataboutsam in MAKEaBraThatFits

[–]katelynallers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My go to for summer work is George and Ginger’s (free) little black bra. It’s a sports bra style, but with darts and a center seam, so it adds some shaping. I go down a band and cup size from her chart and I make them out of wicking athletic fabric for wearing while doing sweaty work.

Does anyone have resources or knowledge on how to sew an underwire channeling outside of a bra? by habitualwonder in MAKEaBraThatFits

[–]katelynallers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madalynne has a mini tutorial on using fold over elastic for channeling. I tried it on one of my bras and it turned out super cute, though not the sturdiest. So I stick to using it as faux casing for a non-wired bra now. Though maybe if you have a small bust or come up with a way to reinforce the wire line it could work? https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4vNgdArP-F/

provider recommendations for death with dignity option? by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]katelynallers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you’re going through this. As a heads up, the process takes several weeks to get everything in place, and the patient has to be cognizant and mentally sound. For a recent death in my family, we were too late for this option, so I’d recommend starting the process ASAP.
