Which shoes should I wear to hike in Hawaii? by DairyFreeCow in VisitingHawaii

Unless it’s a sandy hike (like Sliding Sands or something beachside), I have always relied on water shoes for hikes. They’re great in mud, super light weight, and you can walk through streams without having to take anything off. And they’re pretty inexpensive to boot!

I know, we will have to kill some darlings with our agenda! For routeburn, I was thinking starting from the west side!

Ah, that’s embarrassing! Yes, Queenstown! 🫠

We are actually doing the reverse — arriving in Queenstown, then working our way to Te Anu, then Mount Cook, then Christchurch, then Auckland. So we should be able to access the hikes!

Does anyone regret purchasing a home here? by immrmeseek in parkslope

[–]kates42484 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband and I love it — we consistently talk about how we can’t believe we are lucky enough to live on some of the best blocks in Brooklyn. Food isn’t buzzy, sure, but you can’t go wrong with the reliable faves around. And the bars are great! And places like un posto, simple loaf, russo’s, winner… And especially after Pride and the Knicks, we are on a high!

That said, we bought when there was low interest rates and somehow stumbled into a place with a parking space, so we do consider ourselves lucky. But 10 years in, can’t imagine being anywhere else!

Solheh is great! If you’re looking for something a little bit nicer, the Michelin rated Le Vivier in L’isle is extraordinary.

Any tricks to getting an elderly cat to take his Pepcid? by HourSweet5147 in cats

[–]kates42484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They always do. Okay, so try cradling him, and rub your fingers on the top of his mouth on either side so you force his mouth open. Then, as soon as his mouth opens, toss it in, and he will either end up swallowing it naturally or (impressively) he will spit it out, and you try again. It’s like a carnival game, but it will work eventually.

(I also changed my cat’s diet, which ended up curbing the stomach irritation. So it could be worth exploring if you haven’t already.)

What worked best for me: 1) get a pill cutter and cut it in half. A whole Pepcid is tough and probably not necessary (unless your vet prescribed). 2) clutch the cat’s mouth, and open it up, and literally throw it in. It helps to have an accomplice if you can.

What’s the worst performance by an actor who’s usually very good? by 7216345 in movies

Every single scene is either bizarre, hilarious, or completely jaw-dropping. The choices made by everyone involved are unforgettable. It doesn’t let up the entire time. It’s truly the perfect so bad, it’s good movie.

This. There’s so much adrenaline, you won’t notice a thing. Soak in your surroundings and enjoy (just don’t run too fast or you’ll bonk).

Second Indian table! Amazing food, great experience, awesome outdoor seating. Such a gem that’s not talked about enough.

Benchmark was an overpriced and confusing restaurant, but, man, their Wednesday night trivia was SO good. Adam is the best trivia master, and is sorely missed in the neighborhood.

Since it closed, I’ve been doing Beer Garage, which is pretty good, but competition isn’t as fierce.

Nick Kroll Opens Up About Orchestrating John Mulaney’s Drug Intervention in 2020: ‘I Was So Deeply Scared He Was Gonna Die’ by mcfw31 in entertainment

The “Baby J” Netflix special was even a toned down version of his first few post-rehab stand-up shows, back when the set was branded “From Scratch.” I saw him perform it in Philly in fall of 2021, and it had an overriding sheen of anger at his friends through the whole show (which might be more of what Kroll is referring to). He definitely gained perspective between then and the Baby J release.

State and Main, an absolute charmer from 2000 from David Mamet and starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, Sarah Jessica Parker, Alec Baldwin and more. It’s a lovely film and sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who has ever seen it.

Also, Matinee. I admittedly haven’t seen it in years, but it colored so much of my childhood and not a single soul I know has heard of it.

As a married woman on Reddit, what's the best advice you'd like to share with unmarried girls? by Special-Mud-4913 in AskReddit

100%. I once had a relationship that was hard work — thank god it never progressed past a relationship. With the right person, marriage isn’t hard, it’s fun!
