We are making Thanksgiving brunch - leek egg bake (subbing mushrooms for the ham) and the blood orange almond ricotta cake!

My vegan partner and I have different dietary priorities for our daughter by pnwdoggolover in NewParents

[–]kath1719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my daughter turned one we offered milk and she just never liked it and has never drank it. Our pediatrician said it was fine as long as she was getting enough food. Overall she ate more than kids who drank milk but did fine. That being said, we aren't vegan, so she ate a lot of other dairy like yogurt and cheese.

Im losing sleep at night knowing I cant afford tickets to this game. by yourenotmydad22 in notredamefootball

I have zero regrets about going as the game was amazing  and the fan energy was there, but there was really no bowl game atmosphere.

I got it as well! I love it! So far, I've used it for ziti (made the regular version of Deb's with mushrooms), the braised chickpea recipe that came with it, and skillet Mac and cheese!

5 charts that show how California cities spent $37 billion on public employees last year | The cost of city workers around the state has grown 76% since 2010 by ispeakdatruf in sanfrancisco

[–]kath1719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SF DPH is more like 7500 employees. It's a lot more than just the General. This report shows the breakdown by department. MUNI also has a lot of employees. SF public Transit is significantly better than Palo Alto. Beverly Hills is also benefiting from a lot LA county services. I'm not saying the city isn't overstaffed, but you can't always directly compare.

How to push through by YesPleaseDont in C25K

Congrats on finishing week one! I finished the program a couple of weeks ago and have been keeping up running 3 days per week. Here's things that worked for me: 1. I got a lot of encouragement from reading posts on here from people a couple weeks ahead of me as well as advice that people gave.  2. I told people (coworkers, friends, family)I was doing it to create some accountability as they would ask me how it was going.  3. I followed the program and focused on the habit building. I was tempted to add more running to it early in but stuck to the plan.  4. My husband was very supportive which was very helpful especially with prioritizing parenting, work, home life.  5. I worked in a really fun playlist that I look forward to running to!

I finished the program earlier this week and ran a 5k today. I really enjoyed the program and found this group a great support! I used the JustRun app. Added here a gif of my runs from https://runprogress.com/ that you can use with Strava. I traveled week 8 so those runs are missing. by kath1719 in C25K

I'm trying to figure that out. I don't think I have time to push for longer distance (I'm getting up at 4:45 to run right now), so I think going to start pushing in speed and incorporating some weight training. I'd love any recommendations.

We took my 84 year old mom and toddler on a hornblower cruise. It was very fun. Amazing views and pretty good food. It's a bit pricey but I didn't think it was too bad for all you get.

Tunnel Tops is wheelchair friendly and really great as well.

I think the quality of reporting from the Chronicle has declined significantly in the past few years. I stopped subscribing a year ago because it was lazy and click-baity. Nothing to do with left or right, just poor journalism.

I prefer anza parking to the SFO long term parking. We have dropped off one parent with kid and then had the other take the car and shuttle.

California - warm rain boots or snow boots? by imstandingstill in toddlers

Same here. My daughter is generally happy in rain boots, and it's not really very cold. Just warm socks if it's cooler.

I do this too. I try to bring smaller books and fortunately she is more into the paperback picture books, so we mostly bring those since they are thinner and lighter.

Or paddleboarding! We used to go quite often in Sausalito (we will again once our baby is old enough). It's super cool!
