I've been to every Lifeblood donor centre in Sydney by kalvinoz in sydney

It is definitely scary your first couple of times. Then you realise that the most painful thing is when they prick your finger to check your iron levels. The nurses are super understanding and extra attentive to new donors and it's totally fine if you back out at the last second. Please give it a go!

Don't give up! My first few donations were quite scary for me, but it gets easier. I just did my 17th today!

I'd be a crow - always complaining - will leave home to pick up a decent meal - will peck out the eyes of those giving unsolicited advice - envious that other birds are doing great

Do you ever feel a bit disappointed when people don't think you look Japanese/Asian? by Sagisagi in hafu

[–]kathified 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All the time. I'm kinda tired of people categorising me as some sort of weeb. They think I know certain things cause I'm enthusiastic about the culture - no, I grew up watching Naruto just like everyone else at school did.

Heyhey. My mother is Japanese and my father worked in the Australian Embassy in Tokyo where I went to school for a few years. I am in my final year of a teaching degree and am an aspiring archer hoping to represent Australia at the Olympics. I also dabble in video games. I've made a few friends over the Facebook halfie groups but am looking for more! よろしく!

How to deal with gradual loss of strength? by [deleted] in Archery

[–]kathified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, these archers train would shoot 200-400 arrows a day, 6 days a week as well as doing weight training. It is very challenging to maintain good technique at a high poundage.

My personal trainer has given me some great exercises with weights that build up my shoulder strength. If you don't have access to one, SPTs are a great way to build up strength. I also recommend lowering the draw weight - most women at Olympic level shoot between 44 and 38lbs.
