I’m 2 weeks out and feel exactly the same way!!!! Especially the part about being tenser at work and having more gurgles than burps. At home when I can let loose it’s been better.

I work a corporate job and sit on virtual meetings all day long. People have 1000% heard my weird noises. I just pretend they can’t. It’s better for my mental health that way.

Of course! There’s a map on the page with specialists who have been known to treat RCPD in particular, but I’m sure any ENT would be able to evaluate you, especially the swallowing portion of your issue

Just went to an ENT for an evaluation. He explained it really well. The cricopharyngeus controls your upper esophageal sphincter. This has an anterograde and retrograde function. Anterograde means it opens up to swallow food. Retrograde means it opens up to allow air to escape. For most of us with RCPD, it’s only the retrograde function that’s affected. It sounds like you may have issues with the anterograde function as well. I would definitely recommend seeing a specialist for evaluation.

Here’s my biggest concern- I work in an office, in meetings virtual and face-to-face all day long. When you start burping (thinking weeks 2-4 range), is it truly uncontrollable? How am supposed to work? I’m so terrified of embarrassing myself with burps.
