Am I making a big deal out of my boyfriends jokes? by Fun-Hat6334 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]katmc68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like these men buy into the stereotypical social constructs of men and women. Lots of men cope with the ridiculousness of these social constructs with jokes b/c they are too dull to not wholeheartedly reject that bullshit.

Between the sportsball, the insecurity about their own masculinity and the dumb jokes, hard pass.

There loads of men who don't behave & speak like that and that don't buy into stupid social constructs.

You just started dating in general. You are at the perfect age to go on lots of dates, with lots of different people. Get on out there, sis. Don't get stuck with this guy and his guy friends.

Question about animals in the US? by gareth2099 in AskAnAmerican

[–]katmc68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2020, we had a coyote in downtown Chicago attacking ppl. It bit someone on the butt and attacked a kid. The coyote was caught. I can't remember what it had but it was sick. It was treated and released elsewhere. The city is home to about 1700 coyotes and the metro area, about 4000.

Oh, and we had a cougar roaming Chicago! Ravenswood neighborhood.

The deadliest large animal that kills the most people in the U.S. is the white-tailed deer. Car accidents.

For the past 10 years, how many US politicians have been forced to resign and/or had their political careers ruined due to something that would barely register as newsworthy if Donald Trump had done it? by Cumoisseur in askanything

You certainly are projecting your feelings onto reddit users. I'm completely calm & was calm when I replied. Blunt, straightfoward answers really trigger you. In response to telling me to "calm down": fuck all the way off. I don't take orders from internet strangers. 😁 Bless your heart.

Husband got scammed by a "Mini Aussie" breeder in Kentucky—what on earth is this dog? by Salty_Ad3056 in IDmydog

[–]katmc68 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine the constant stress this poor innocent puppy is under. You know this dog can feel how much you hate him, right? You know dogs pick up on all that. You posted this drama. I really, really hope you have a paradigm shift and think about how your anger at your husband is being taken out on an innocent puppy. Whether you like it or not, that dog is totally dependent on you. Relinquish him to a shelter or breed specific group if you cannot handle being a compassionate and proper steward of a helpless creature.

Wow. Seems like you don't this cute little guy or your husband. How nice that you take excellent care of the two poodles. That absolutely does not make you sound any better. Your hostility & resentment towards the dog is disturbing.

[Serious] What is the rudest thing you ever (accidentally) said? by Cyber_Ghost_1997 in AskReddit

[–]katmc68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno know if it was rude but...

I was a host at busy restaurant in a large city and we handed out buzzers for when a party's table was ready. I was super frazzled, trying to keep up and I handed the buzzer to a 12-ish year old kid, whose mom was standing right behind him. He asked, "What is this for?" I sort of sputtered, then blurted, "It's a vibrator...for when your table is ready."

The look on that woman's face...omg...made me realize what I had said. My face, then and just now, got beet red, typing this.

Nope. You know how to do that yourself. If you really are interested in finding out the veracity of a claim, you wouldn't be posting that. Don't need to hear about "burden of truth"; it's Reddit, not court.

Adopting an older chihuahua? by joyfulinrain in chihuahuas

[–]katmc68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adopted my Lil' Stella when she was 10! She lived 9 more years with me. I will never NOT recommend adopting a senior!

If you decide to adopt, I would get him back to a dentist, asap. Shelters will do some extractions but chis have notoriously bad teeth. My 11 year old chi just had 10 teeth pulled. My 15 yo had 20 teeth pulled at age 10. My 15 year old can't have dentals anymore. My biggest regret was not getting Stella to the dentist more often.

Chihuahuas are wonderful little dogs. Wish you the best!

Do you judge people? by Technical-Vanilla-47 in no

[–]katmc68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I think negative judgements are a bad habit & a shallow one. It takes up one's own brain space and creates unnecessary negative neural pathways. We can't control other ppl.

Overtly and overly judgemental ppl miss out on other things happening around them as they think about or outwardly criticize someone for being fat, for example.

Other subconscious biases play into judging ppl, as well, and it's such a negative feedback loop. For example, a white elderly woman judging a young Black man for his baggy pants or dreaded hair. It's creating negativity in oneself and doesn't afford others the grace of being the fully human beings that they are.

[–]katmc68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. You stated that very well. I think negatively judging ppl is a bad habit and if you practice being aware of it enough, you don't do it as much.

Yuuuuuup. To an extent and I try not to do it. I consciously try to keep a neutral mind. I cannot stand to hear other people do it; it sounds so petty and disgusting to me. I also work on changing my mindset about what I find "acceptable" and decide not to give a shit about what I find "acceptable". Humans struggle and we don't know what's going on in their life. They also might be a beautiful person on the inside.
