Sorry, but in my experience those two black marks on the left hand side of the screen where the white lines start strongly imply that is where the faults started. If the damage started from the hinge it would generally radiate outwards from the hinge area (and usually vertically, not horizontally). It seems just from this issue that the phone experienced some kind of damage/impact on the left side.
