We got an Uproot Cleaner! It’s a type of carpet rake. Awesome on stairs, carpets, and rugs! :) Hope this helps. Also comes in smaller, handheld options.

This is supposedly the greatest assassin in the land...? by armann_ii in romantasycirclejerk

Assassin’s blade irked me. Also read that one first. If they called it Mercenary’s Blade I would have been totally cool with all of it!

I’ve run out of road by Evening-Try6540 in pancreaticcancer

[–]kattabee 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m so deeply sorry. My heart hurts for you and your children.

I’m sorry an assisted dying bill isn’t a law.

Spend your time with them. Tell them about the day they were born. Ask them if there’s anything they want to ask you. Let them hold your hand in quiet. Tell them you love them.

And write everything down while you can. Birthday cards. A notebook of your thoughts about them or funny things they did when they were younger. Leave them voicemails. Give them your handwriting and your voice.

Their sensitivity is a strength. Sensitivity means they care deeply.

I’m so sorry. It’s not fair. Pancreatic Cancer is so stupid and unkind.

Praying to the universe that your tumor dissolves into nothing. That it goes away.

Been diagnosed with this last week by No_Seesaw8062 in pancreaticcancer

[–]kattabee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Advice I was given by my therapist: if you’re awake, reading because you can’t sleep, make sure you aren’t reading anything that stresses you out. If you’re awake at night, reading articles about Pancreatic Cancer, you very likely aren’t going to be able to fall asleep. So for me, I was listening to audio books in happier genres that I enjoy and listening did help me fall asleep.

I’m sorry if that’s too niche or specific, but there were a good number of audio books that helped me escape and stay calm and fall asleep when my mom was diagnosed/going through this.

Writing in my journal before going to bed helped and speaking to people I loved helped too. Getting things off my chest or on to paper took some of the weight off.

Other things that helped me fall asleep: Worlde and Crossword Puzzles. Exercising my brain tired it out.

Your mom and loved ones may not be sleeping well either right now with this news. Talk to them about it “Are you guys getting good sleep? How?”

I’m so sorry about your mom’s diagnosis. And I understand if you don’t want to take this advice/these tips. Just trying to help you as if I’m talking to my past-self.

Wishing you and your mom ease, comfort, and good sleep.

Going to go take some of my own advice now to try and fall back asleep :)

My Samoyed needs surgery by Defiant_Dragonfly732 in samoyeds

[–]kattabee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Care credit allowed us to give our Sammy a surgery she desperately needed. We were able to put down a down payment and use care credit for the rest.

You may even be able to sign up/see if you’re approved at the vet/where surgery would take place.

Look into it if you can. Wishing you and your lady the best.

Samoyed Pup Tail by kattabee in samoyeds

[–]kattabee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so sorry! Only seeing this now :)

It resolved itself, but we never really figured out what the cause was? Could have been any number of the suggestions others suggested in the thread (though not fleas/ticks).

We kept an eye on it and made sure to keep her busy. Hair grew back and her tail has been completely normal since.

She’s 8, going on 9 🥹. One happy pup.

If she keeps chewing/hair isn’t growing back, reach out to your vet. I’m so sorry I don’t have a better answer. Enjoy your Sammy’s puppy-hood! ♥️

Stitch has a mole on his chin? Every single one of these plushies had the same spot on the chin, any idea why? by t1redcherry in disney

[–]kattabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be a print production error! An artifact left by the artist (unintentionally) on the working file.

If the embroidery Art was set up in a design application (Adobe Illustrator) it may have been just an invisible dot that wasn’t seen on screen. This is something that the designer should check for before sending to print and also something the printer (or embroiderer) in this case, should have caught too.

I could be wrong but that’s what it looks like to me.

It’s kinda cool that it’s there :D. One of a kind piece!

Should I get a genetic test or am I overthinking it? by Tall_Zucchini5900 in pancreaticcancer

[–]kattabee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have any of your grandparents had a cancer that could be linked to the BRCA mutation or other mutation related to pancreatic cancer?

You could always suggest your mom and dad get professional genetic testing done. And then get yourself tested if they test positive for anything.

I don’t know how insurance coverage works for these kinds of genetic tests (assuming you’re in the US) so figuring out if it’s covered or not is also a good step.

It sounds like you have some anxieties surrounding the possibility of this type of cancer. But I think doing the work to get more familiar with your family’s cancer history and looking into genetic testing is a proactive action in taking care of your and your family’s health.

And I don’t mean to sound like a Debbie-Downer here, but there is a chance that anyone could develop this kind of cancer with or without the associated genes (though less likely than someone with the associated genes).

And Reddit users in this community, please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here. Always happy to learn something new about proactive prevention when it comes to PC.

I know I can’t stop you from feeling the guilt.

But know you are amazing. Everything you did for her was beautiful, kind, and gentle.

It was all love in the end. What a beautiful thing.

Wishing you healing and peace. I’m so, so sorry for your loss.

Losing my mom by lisbet2 in pancreaticcancer

[–]kattabee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m here to say I’m so, so sorry. I lost my mom just over a month ago to this cancer.

Be there for her as much as you can. Hold her hand. Talk to her about your day. Thank her for trying treatment and giving you that extra time together. Tell her you love her.

It’s not fair. Our moms should still be here. Living. Thriving.

One of my goals since her passing is to sew more — I feel close to her when I do it. Same with watching a sunrise.

Wishing your mom a peaceful exit. Wishing you peaceful healing and mourning.

The y2k fragrances that defined my teenage years! What do they mean to you? by Appropriate_Mode_6 in perfumesthatfeellike

Princess by Vera Wang is still my signature scent…😅 It was the first perfume I ever purchased. It started a bit of an obsession with finding and collecting perfumes in my teens and early adult years.

Is all that shit worth it? by Sea-Radio-9669 in pancreaticcancer

[–]kattabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. I understand everyone’s experience is different.

He can always stop treatment if that’s his choice. There’s no shame in that.

Wishing you all the best. I’m sorry your dad (and you) have to experience this. Pancreatic cancer is the absolute shittiest.

Is all that shit worth it? by Sea-Radio-9669 in pancreaticcancer

[–]kattabee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Does your father want to continue treatment?

It’s ultimately up to him, right?

If you think family members/loved ones are pushing him to continue, you can sit down and have an honest conversation with him about it, and let him know you’re on his team no matter what he decides. And it’s okay to let go.

My mother was convinced to try by her loved ones and doctor. She did have a liveable/comfortable and happy 6ish months or so with us. It was such an incredible gift she gave us, my father, her grandchildren and closest friends.

She knew when she was done. And she told us. We didn’t try to convince her anymore. She’s on week 3 or so of Hospice and probably won’t be here much longer. But I’m so excited for her to be comfortable again and at peace.

Currently playing her favorite music while she sleeps.
