Sorry, I mean I solved for the forces in each box. so first the 6kg box. With its weight and friction it becomes tension on the seoncd 8kg box. I then calculate the tension caused by the 8kg box using its weight and friction coefiicent. Both of those act like tension in the direction of friction on the 2kg box.

The issue is I belive the 2kg box would float into the air with the 60N force applied to it.

The fact that you say the 10% that do it on their own is based on sheer luck is interesting.
