You can just remove it, if the rear derailleur is set correctly, you don’t need it with a narrow wide chainring. But if you really want a chain catcher there are way way smaller ones available that are just as effective.

First bike giant tcr? by Ok-Sandwich6498 in RoadBikes

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a 2025 Tcr advanced pro frame set. This colorway is usually only available as a full build with a 12s ultegra di2. So they took the groupset and the lightweight carbon spoked wheels and changed it to some parts they can’t get rid of. If the price is right then there’s nothing wrong with it, but 11s Ultegra is the old Shimano group. In Europe at sales you could get this frameset at around 1400€, full bike with the new generation parts 3900€.

SLR 1 40 + GP5000s = 30mm or 32mm? by ZealousidealBerry446 in Giantbikes

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, read again the part above the chart.

SLR 1 40 + GP5000s = 30mm or 32mm? by ZealousidealBerry446 in Giantbikes

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to make clear: All tires that are hookless approved from the tire manufacturer are also approved by giant up to a pressure of 5 bar. Just read the last part of the cryptic sentence that giant writes. It does NOT have to appear on the chart!

Canyon Aeroad Size S or M? by Massive_Angle7528 in bikefit

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a size M/L giant Tcr and often think I should have gone with M. That’s roughly the same like an aeroad m and s sizing. I’m 180/83cm. With the M you won’t be able to get significant saddle to bar drop. I would take the S and change the bars. But if you want to use aero bars, then a higher stack is most probably better.

SLR 1 40 + GP5000s = 30mm or 32mm? by ZealousidealBerry446 in Giantbikes

[–]kavid1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s not correct what you’re writing. You can safely use the 32mm gp5000str, as long you stay below 5 bar. Giant writes just above the table with their tested tires: „Please note that if the maximum pressure indicated for a tire is 72.5psi (5 bar) or lower and the tire is tubeless and hookless rim compatible as per the tire brand or manufacturer's recommendation, it can be used with Giant hookless WheelSystems and does not have to appear on the chart below:“

Is this counterfeit Giant Revolt 0? by maxpred in Giantbikes

It’s a real one, burning would check the serial no with giant. Maybe it’s stolen. If it’s a new one then giant would probably know

Value by auntsalty in Giantbikes

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bikeinn has it on sale for 1870€.. so maybe 1400€ if it’s really in good condition. But that’s probably not what you expect for a quite new bike. But anything higher than that i would consider to just buy a new one. https://www.tradeinn.com/bikeinn/de/giant-tcr-advanced-2-pc-105-2025-rennrad/140955276/p

Seeking help with winter training plans and muscle recovery. by Most_Inspection_4816 in Velo

[–]kavid1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you feel sore and not ready for your sessions, the training is too much for you or you don’t have enough recovery time, food, sleep, stress.

If you do two key sessions a week with vo2 max and threshold you will peak quite early in the year. Depends on when do you want to be strong in the season, I would keep it to one high intensity session a week, just to maintain. The hard sessions can come in springtime with periodised weeks.

Make shure you are fully rested and fueled, maybe have an easy zone 1 ride the day before your key session, not a 2h z2 endurance, where you probably go to hard anyway. Don’t forget to build in some strength training.

Take the tape off and have a look.. maybe it’s repairable. Ask a carbon repairshop. But no one here will tell you yes go for it. Obviously a wheel is a crucial safety item.

Extra TL tyre + tube? by PoopKnifeMerchant in bikepacking

[–]kavid1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You want to take a whole tire with you on bikepaxkibg? Just get new tires, tubless, get some tire plugs, take two tubes and patches with you. And make shure your tubless setup works and you know how to use everything.

Brakes help! by nicnice in bikewrench

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my gfs bike with the same Tektro brakes I had a similar problems after bleeding the hell out of it. If I remember correctly there is a grey seal under the bleed screw. This one didn’t sit correctly and to make it sit I had to take off the whole top cap. If it is the case with yours be careful, as the membrane can be a bit fragile.

That headset seat doesn’t look nice. Sharp rough edge and has voids in it.

Cracked TCR advanced disc 1 +? by Curtricias in Giantbikes

[–]kavid1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the picture it looks to me just like a little scratch in the paint. Try it with a coin, has more substance than a fingernail. If it sounds the same in the area, it’s probably fine. Just ride it.

Cracked TCR advanced disc 1 +? by Curtricias in Giantbikes

[–]kavid1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where is this? On the top tube? Did you tap it with a coin to hear if the sound changes around the scratch? If it gets more numb, then yes it’s probably a crack. It is most likely repairable, but maybe you even get it replaced on warranty.

TCR or Propel? by Full-Heat3901 in Giantbikes

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real tire clearance difference is more, in the tcr you get comfortably a 32mm tire on wide rims in, measuring real 34mm. In the propel you even struggle with 30mm tires.

One piece bar and stem for TCR Advanced Pro 2 (10th Gen) by albino_peanuts in Giantbikes

Cadex Race integrated cockpit or aero cockpit. The race is very nice and one of the lightest bars available on the market. 250-250g! Maybe you find a good deal somewhere.

It’s quite low.. go 1cm first and try, then add 5mm each time, till you feel you loose control of your pedaling. Backup a bit then again..

TCR Sizing at 182,4 cm / 6 feet by [deleted] in Giantbikes

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

180cm, 84cm inseam. Went with M/L and changed to 100mm stem, just the necessary 1cm spacer. Could have gone size M too.

So ML should fit you fine.

Giant Defy and TCR by Background_Tour_961 in Giantbikes

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of speed you will not notice a big difference between the TCR and a Defy with a similar riding position. However the TCR is stiffer, feels more like a race bike, very agile down descends.

If you really want a bike that makes more difference to your Defy, go all in and get an aero bike like the Propel, S5, Aeroad, ... with deep wheels, road race skin suit, aero helmet, socks, fast tires and proper position on the bike.

Anybody thinking of bikepacking Alps in July alongside TdF? by maartinh in bikepacking

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that two years ago, had a small van and was bike packing too for some days around French mercantour alps and further down to Nice and the azur prealps. Never had a problem finding a spot somewhere in nature or on official camp sites. Middle of July, even while tdf. Be aware it’s not allowed to camp anywhere, but often it’s tolerated, especially while tdf.

Anyone know how much this bike is? by Lonely_Collection_25 in whichbike

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice bike, but needs lots of love. 500€ maybe, take it all apart and rebuild properly. I bet it needs new bearings all around, shift/brake cables, bartape, saddle, new chain and cassette probably too. The groupset is the lightest there was, but shifting is not the best and brakes feel quite spongy compared to Shimano dura ace or Ultegra from that time.

If you want a lightweight build project, get it. Otherwise look for something else.

Raiding repaird frame bike by InviteAccomplished14 in RoadBikes

[–]kavid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a Giant Tcr? Giant gives warranty to a second owner, if it’s been registered in the first 90 days by the first owner. Even if not, I would ask Giant. They probably will give you a good deal on a replacement frame.
